Shadow Remix - Grosse Trommel

Conceptually inspired by György Ligeti's "Poème Symphonique for 100 Metronomes", in which each metronome has its own metric, the appeal lies in creating music that plays with this concept of unquantized polyrhythms (e.g. raindrops) and does not seem exhausting, but is exciting to listen to.

Shadow Orchestra I from 1989 consists of an ensemble of electronic and mechanical instruments that can be activated via a control desk of 11 light sensors. Especially the first version of the three-part orchestra work series plays with the interaction of coincidental and static rhythms. The ensemble of the instruments is enlarged on a wall as a silhouette and creates an atmospheric experience of space.
