Our next mixtape instalment comes from Sara Berts, an Italian composer and sound artist. Sara’s work is saturated with elements from the natural world blending with electronics. She defines her music as a meeting ground, a place of active exchange between two bandwidths of reality, the visible world and its allusive aliveness of another order of being. And following this premises she has prepared this mixtape, a flow and exchange without an intention. I just start playing and listening, inside and outside; and, as for this mix, things start shaping up bit by bit. 
 
Sara is publishing soon her debut EP in Gang of Ducks Ayni self-described the record as a gift from the plants and for the plants. Field recordings flowing through the whole record come from the Peruvian Amazon forest, where she spent 3 months in 2019 while seeking personal healing. All the other sounds come from the Buchla Easel and were recorded in Italy during the suspended time of the 2020 strict lockdown. As she puts it, two different times and spaces linked together through isolation and uncertain feelings for the future. However, Ayni doesn’t contain any element of darkness but is inspired by a sense of redemption and healing arising from these events.  
 
A thoroughly immersive record that deserves a deep listening to explore and appreciate all the different shades of sound and emotion it contains, which sounds and feels specially crafted to ease the listener into a new season of hopeful renewal.

Hidden-by-the-Wall is a new soundwork by :zoviet*france: commissioned by Green Croft Arts as part of its Collision and Conflict project.

Collision and Conflict is a GPS-triggered geolocated sound walk, presented through the Echoes phone app, that follows a circular route between Walltown and Green Croft in Northumberland, UK. The route runs alongside and close by Hadrian's Wall, a vast Roman defensive fortification that runs east/west across northern England, marking the northwestern frontier of the Roman empire. While following the route, walkers can listen to each of the 14 new music, sound and spoken word Collision and Conflict compositions at the locations to which they've been allocated along the way. Hidden-by-the-Wall can be found along a stretch of open country between Walltown and Thirlwall, a high point from which the distant Scottish borders to the north and the North Pennines to the south can be seen.

In devising Hidden-by-the-Wall we set out to capture hidden and unnoticed sounds in the vicinity and recreate lost sounds that would have been heard decades ago but have now gone forever. The original field recordings that form the hidden and unnoticed sounds are here in this playlist. More about each track can be found in the description on its page.

Written and recorded in 2018 during and after a nomadic travel in the open air, Astroveliero is the debut ep of Regno Maggiore and an introspective journey inside h** beliefs and experiences.
Across 6 free-flow tracks, the artist has created a world of multi- layered textured details and organic instruments, blended with a fine tune work of sound engineering.
Astroveliero joins together different musical influences as well as world cultures, with a result that could be assimilated to the fourth world tradition.
