YLVA are a four piece heavy band from Melbourne.

Drawing influences from a deep well of experience in past outfits, YLVA create
patient, dark and mysterious pieces, punctuated with crushing riffs at extreme volumes.
Since playing their first show just over a year ago, YLVA have shared bills
with the likes of High On Fire and Ufomammut; more than holding their own onstage.

Having honed their material and approach with ruthless precision, YLVA have now applied the finishing touches to their debut album.  Engineered and mixed by 
Mike Deslandes and mastered by Dav Byrne, the record,  M E T A, will showcase 
a band demonstrating what DIY can now mean in the 21st century.

"While chatting with my mates next to me on the barrier, we were disrupted by an 
immediate and surprising blast from YLVA, who were the second band of the night. 
No dramatic or simple introductions, no heads up, no nothing. They just erupted 
out of nowhere. I kept looking back at all of the people around me to see if I 
wasn’t the only one that was completely blown away. There are a handful of doom 
bands out there that try a bit too hard on pulling out a great number of interesting 
progressions and riffs, but YLVA let all of that flow very naturally. To say I was 
impressed would be more than an understatement."

"The band’s efforts on stage cemented them as the real deal, as the foursome 
ploughed through their set almost hypnotically so – the individual cogs spinning 
as part of a well-oiled machine. Moreover, it’s always refreshing to see a band’s 
raw work ethic apparent on stage, which was also the case here.  The testimonials 
just keep coming however, as according to a post on their Facebook page, their 
performance tonight was only their second show they have ever played as a group, 
which is genuinely quite surprising to witness. It can sometimes take years for a 
group of musicians sound as tight as YLVA did tonight, and if they continue on 
their upward climb of solid musicianship and raw dedication, these boys have a 
very bright looking future ahead of them."

"YLVA, however, stole the show, even over the headliners.  I had high hopes for 
YLVA after a few friends clued me into them a while ago, but I was not expecting 
such a physical experience. There is not a wasted note, beat, tone, noise or vocal 
line, but there’s also a beautiful level of restraint, both regarding how they 
write in levels of light and shade, but also in how no one in the band ever 
seemed to overplay. All of this works to make those moments, the big fuck-off 
sledgehammer hits, feel all the more impactful. I’m very glad I got to hear 
these guys on a big stage too; with the minimal light show and huge sounds 
(especially on the drums) it worked well for them."
