The old friend reached out to embrace the skeleton, but the skeleton pulled away.

* Gas, why don't you... get in shape first before you touch anything.
* Oh... Yes, of course...

Gaster walked across the tiles of the hall towards one of the passageways, looked back, and turned to Sans with an even wider smile.

* Everything is as it was when I left!
* yeah... this part of the lab became abandoned when you and Alphys end with your experimenting...
* So you haven't gotten rid of the...

Before the scientist could finish his sentence, the skeleton interrupted him in a serious tone.

* no. Alphys didn't dare, probably... and besides, they're still monsters, Gaster. They have families who are still waiting for them.
* Hehe... I don't think they'll be waiting so much long... Hehehe...

The monster, shaking off the last vestiges of the substance, headed down one of the corridors, looking over his shoulder at Sans, as if to tell him to follow.

Snowdin had a festive, cozy atmosphere, just like any other day. Monster children were running around the Christmas tree in the square, and light jazz and the buzz of noisy groups were playing from the bar, while a gentle breeze made the trees sway and shake off the old, long-standing snow.
It was around noon, but surprisingly, there weren't many monsters around.

* okay, here we are at ho-
SANS, THERE YOU ARE!

The guys was quite startled by a sharp, squeaky voice.
I've been looking for you everywhere and...
A tall skeleton wearing a cloak and strange armor that resembled a royal guard's armor but had a strange color scheme, walked towards the two monsters with his huge red boots, then stopped abruptly and cut off his speech.

O-O-h...

The unexpected guest looked at the stranger in the white robe. He was wearing a black long-sleeved and collar sweater, black trousers, and black shoes. He didn't look like a skeleton or any other monster that Sans's worried brother, Papyrus, knew. His hands and head resembled those of a skeleton, but his face didn't. He had a missing nose and a toothless mouth. Papyrus leaned over to Sans and asked in a voice half a tone lower:

Do we have guests..?

Sans knew how Papyrus would react when he found out that his older brother had once collaborated with a royal scientist who had spared no lives in his quest to discover the powers that could grant him great power, leading to further research and eventual recognition as the scientist who had saved an entire race from years of imprisonment. Additionally, Skele-brother could have revealed this information to Undyne, who could have passed it on to Asgore. The consequences of such a revelation will be very hard, as the former royal scientist will have faced the weight of his sins. Vanity and selfishness ruled Gaster's actions, and the same qualities could be attributed to Sans for his small but meaningful assistance to his scientist friend, even though the skeleton himself was not pleased with the situation. However, Sans genuinely liked his friend. Outside of the laboratory, he was very understanding and sensible. He knew how to relax and lounge on the couch, engaging in both idle conversations and philosophical discussions about their existence. Papyrus himself barely remembers Gaster, as he was still a small bone back then, and it's unlikely that he would have been able to remember the monster who appeared a couple of times a week and lounged with his brother in front of the TV.
Sans decided to do what he did best - make excuses on the fly.

* yeah, Paps... This is our... Distant cousin on our uncle's side... I suppose...

Papyrus thought for a moment, as if remembering something, but a moment later, a spark of excitement lit up in his eyes.

WOWIE!!! AMAZING!

Sans and Gaster, who were standing there, exhaled as if they were about to die.

BUT, SANS... IT SHOULD BE GIVEN PRIOR NOTICE, YOU LAZY BUNCH OF BONES!

The tall skeleton thought for a moment, then jumped up with a serious expression and headed towards the house.

I SHOULD PREPARE MY SPECIAL PASTE FOR OUR GUEST!

listened to the sound of snow crunching under his brother's heavy boots, Sans called out to him in a calm, relaxed voice.

* yeap. see ya.

The skeleton froze in place, twisting its back into an unnatural position.

*Sans, what's going on?
*Wha- Why are you... You're covered in dust!

The skeleton abruptly jerked into an intimidating and even more unnatural position, he's gaze pointing towards the lady-fish.

*Sans! What the hell is wrong with you! It's you! You killed them all, didn't you!?

The skeleton continues to stare. his pupils twitch and won't look away.

*F🐶ck, I don't know what's going on here, but if you don't stop acting like this and answer me, I'M GOING TO KILL YOU, ASSHOLE!

The skeleton's pupils went blank. After a couple of seconds, he turned his entire body in a smooth motion, as smooth as it could be, and stood upright. He stare at Undyne. The head of the royal guard tensed and was about to shout furiously at the skeleton, but-

*come. closer. 
*level. strong.





*i need you.
