Todays the 28th of December,
And I just don’t know how to feel.

The New Years still yet to come,
And Christmas just passed on by.
I just don’t know what to do, or where to go,
And today’s going by so slow.

The weather’s just cracked 39 degrees,
The hottest year on record, I believe.
The traffic is banked,
All the way up the freeway.
People just can not wait to get away.

Across the country bushfires are sweeping through,
If your walking on concrete you better wear some shoes.

It sure is nice sitting in this air conditioned room, cause day 3 of the cricket is on tv,
And Im watching in HD.
And if I get hungry,
I can open the fridge,
There’s leftover Christmas food in there,
That’s just waiting to be eaten.
I know there’s some turkey,
That’s still good to eat,
Just got to put it in the microwave,
And blast it with some heat.
For about 8 minutes,
And I'll stir a couple of times in between,
Won’t forget to put water in the plate
Don’t want it to get dry.
And if I still have space,
I’ll have a slice of fruit cake,
And maybe the body of a gingerbread man.

Just like every year,
Angus has gone away up the coast,
We all know when he gets back he’ll have some stories to tell.
And Frank and Dolly,
They’ve gone for a few days down the coast,
I can just picture them on the sand,
Breathing in that fresh ocean air.

I was wanting to organize a holiday,
For this time of year.
But I just kept putting it off.
By the time I started looking around a few weeks ago,
Any place that'd fit my family was all booked out.

Mary has been going steady with her new boyfriend for a while now,
He even drives her to and from work.
They were talking about how on Boxing Day,
He was gonna have to be ready in the morning at her door by 4.

She has a job at a big department store,
Where before the sun’s even risen,
People are lining up at the door.

I went in to see her that day,
And take advantage of the sales,
I bought a new pair of socks,
And a set of pyjamas.
Which I wore
The following night.
When I couldn’t fall asleep
Cause my neighbours Christmas lights were flashing so bright.
Through my bedroom window
I wonder how long they're gonna keep those lights up this year.
Maybe a few months like the year before
Or just a few weeks like the year before that.
Or maybe,
they'll just get lazy,
and leave them up there for the whole year
And turn them back on again next time Christmas comes around.
There's a house down my street
Their lights have already been taken down
But you can bet your bottom dollar
That come December 1st they’ll be right back up
Well on the bright side,
I'll be here to take out the bins on bin night,
cause they're filled with food scraps and Christmas wrapping up paper,
that if i miss,
this weeks pickup,
It'll only take one more day until those bins start overflowing,
And then I'd have to,
fit the garbage in recycling,
and hide the rest in amongst the grass in the garden bin.
Bin night's on Thursday,
but I can't even tell what day it is today,
It could be Thursday or it could be Sunday,
but it also feels abit like a Tuesday,
If Jesus was still around today,
I don't think he'd even know what day it is,
he could say it feels like a Monday,
and it was just his birthday the other day.
