Loose Plans is the debut studio EP from the Berlin based band, Soft Double. Comprising four tight-knit tracks, the EP is an introduction to the band’s playful sonic world. Drawing from rock, low-key R&B, psych, city pop, and komische influences, Loose Plans cobbles together a succinct yet eclectic musical journey that showcases the band’s cross-pollinating musical idiom. Syrupy synths and astral guitar lines drift and cascade over the chug of a chunky rhodes, while vintage drum machines offer punchy rhythms that keep things groovy. The songs are both earnest and delightfully cheesy, drizzled with bittersweet vocals that are at once whimsical and enigmatic. Composed, recorded, and mixed piecemeal over the course of a year, Loose Plans is an EP whose roadmap explores the margins of momentum and stasis, of serendipity and misfortune, of spontaneity and circumstance.
