Description: At the request of Giuseppe Cacciola for his album "Brick Dance", I conceived and interpreted the texts for the beginning and the end of the album: "Once upon a time" and "Stars".

Dante's Divine Comedy has exercised the imagination of poets, artists, historians, theologians, and lovers of literature and poetry for the past seven centuries. Numerous English translations have appeared since Henry Carey published the first widely circulated English translation in the early 1800s. William Blake was so moved by Carey's translation that he spent the last years of his life teaching himself Italian so as to work directly with Dante's text. During the final year of his life, Blake worked relentlessly on a series of illustrations for The Divine Comedy.

This post offers a new rhythmic translation of this classic philosophical poem.

It has been long recognised by poets that the greater power within poetry manifests more strongly when it is heard rather than read. This has ever been the way since the Greek rhapsodei sang the memory of their Homeric epics through many centuries.

The project called Dante Reloaded, envisions the audio recording of all the songs that make up Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri, their sounding and "publication" on free platforms like You Tube, in order to facilitate the maximum disclosure of the work to students; passionate; And new potential users of this majestic work. For best listening, headphones are recommended.
"I certainly do not intend to rival the historical interpretations of Vittorio Gassman, Carmelo Bene, Giorgio Albertazzi or Arnoldo Foa, nor with the immense and well-deserved work done by Roberto Benigni, but thanks to the facility provided by web platforms like You Tube or soundcloud, I would like Involve students in the study of the Divine Comedy, making the reading of songs something unexpectedly modern, comprehensible and familiar, and eventually bringing them to appreciate the great interpretations of the past.
I intend to propose a theatrical interpretation without excessive interpretative impulse but at the same time without the monotony given by careful reading almost exclusively to the metric of the Dantesque Terzines. The idea is to experience the poet's emotions through his side, to experience fears, timidities, Dante's distraction in his journey through the hell of hell, to the enchantment of the heavenly visions. I do not intend to use terzines to emphasize interpretation, on the contrary, with all the humility and respect that the work requires, I intend to use the interpretation to give life to the poetic and imaginative charm of Dantesque Terzines and the characters that Appear in the work.
I am interested in working on a modern sound, where electronics can also be put to the service of the many facets Dante's work proposes: volume, volume of speech, reverberation, sound atmospheres, without mortifying the metric concept of work but On the contrary trying to enter rhythmically in Dante's vision.

Il progetto chiamato Dante Reloaded, prevede la registrazione audio di tutti i canti che compongono la Divina Commedia di Dante Alighieri, la loro sonorizzazione e “pubblicazione” sulla piattaforma gratuita di You Tube, per favorire la massima divulgazione possibile dell’ opera presso studenti; appassionati; e nuovi possibili fruitori di questa maestosa opera. Per un ascolto ottimale si consiglia l’uso di cuffie.

Intendo proporre una interpretazione di stampo teatrale, senza eccessivi slanci interpretativi ma al contempo senza quella monotonia data da letture attente quasi esclusivamente alla metrica delle terzine dantesche. L’idea è quella di vivere le emozioni del poeta attraverso le sue terzine, di vivere i timori, le timidezze, lo sconcerto di Dante nel percorrere i gironi dell’inferno, fino ad arrivare all’incanto delle visioni paradisiache. Non intendo utilizzare le terzine per dare risalto all’interpretazione, al contrario, con tutta l’umiltà e il rispetto che l’opera richiede, intendo utilizzare l’interpretazione per far vivere l’incanto poetico e immaginativo delle terzine dantesche.
Mi interessa lavorare su di una sonorizzazione moderna, dove anche l’elettronica possa mettersi al servizio delle molteplici sfaccettature che l’opera di Dante ci propone: volumi, spessore della voce, riverberi, atmosfere sonore, senza mortificare la concezione metrica del lavoro, ma al contrario cercando di entrare anche ritmicamente nella visione dantesca.”
