Mi Amore has a driving pace and uplifting bright vibes in contrast to the narrative. The tenderness of the harmonies led me to a story of deep, true love between a couple and the heartbreaking reality that one of them was dying. The spoken lyrics are conveyed as if to the dying partner expressing deep love, compassion, comfort and support, as they draw their last breath and slip away into the night forever.

Wish You'd Give is from my debut EP called Maintenant.
I instantly fell for a cute little guitar line which during improv gave way to a fully formed concept and melody and, bar a few tweaks and refinement, it pretty much wrote itself. I’d been thinking for some time around my experiences of seeing how people can do an excellent job of putting up walls for protection that ultimately only serve to keep oneself limited and how this seems an incredible waste and a ridiculous thing to do. It’s a song about loving another person and wanting the very best for them. I’m coming to the opinion that we all need to give more.

Solid Steel (4th November) In Hour 1 this week we hand over to London legend Mr G, ahead of the release of his fifth album 'A Good Place...?' on his own Phoenix G imprint. He's had over 2 decades in the game and was previously part of the KCC Sound System and one half of techno outfit The Advent. No tracklist for the mix, but it's a quality selection as you'd expect with some sublime soulful cuts, a touch of Brazilian, Reggae and other electronic excursions. He told us;
“Yeah, once again time for a Mr. G podcast. Hello peeps! This time just some random stuff on the studio floor, kind of on a militant tip - don’t know why! But anyway as usual you get me you don’t get me - enjoy the ride! Mr. G signing out…”
