MumbleBee

MumbleBee has been DJing Since January 2020, with so little time behind the decks it’s a wonder that they have a style one would assume took years to cultivate. Originally from The Zoo (Kalamazoo), now in Zoo Town we met Mumblebee behind the booth at Monk’s. Blown away by the vibe they brought to the party we had them over to The Senvion to hear more. Before those events Mumblebee had only played a few open decks and a few parties. We’re really excited to share this mix with you and have an amazing new member in our scene. 
 
A few words form Mumblebee:
I enjoy the manipulation of sounds, and the tactile response feeling of a mixing board. Being the center of attention every now and again is nice too. Anything from color, an emotion, places I visit, people, my friends, etc give me inspiration 
This mix is a little eclectic. It’s got some bass music, I threw in Sylvan Esso and a Car Seat Headrest track. The beginning is a lot of Stagga. Their music gives me vertigo so I thought it fit the vibe I was going for. There’s also a Sneaks track right at the beginning (I love Sneaks). Then I capped it off with some melodic deep house.
This Mix is called Through the Tunnel//IntroMission//On the Other Side. 
It’s a concept inspired by the feeling of unease one gets from watching the tunnel scene from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (the Gene Wilder Version)
One of my favorite things to do is start a mix pretty slow (this one starts at 70bpm) and work my way up to a faster bpm (this mix ends at 123bpm) I have a pretty diverse music taste and by doing this I get to play all of the tracks I like.

MumbleBee returns! Episode 67 Starlight Thursdays. Get ready to hear  deep and synth driven beats that beatyin peaks with some melodic techno and fades back down to a diesel engine chug.

This Mix is titled Trippin//Return to I90
I spent most of June and July living out of my car. I’ve been driving all around Montana as well as cross country, visiting friends and spinning fire at gigs. I spent a lot of time on I90, which adopted a surreal quality the longer I drove across it. I hope this mix captures the feeling of pistons pumping tirelessly, chain smoking Cigarettes, white knuckles on a steering wheel, and an endless roadway under a blistering blue sky.

Episode 90 Starlight Thursdays, Mumblebee back to back with Soular Spice Recorded Live at Tomorrow Yesterday NYE. These two DJs are close friends from Kalamazoo Michigan. MumbleBee moved to Missoula nearly a year ago and established themselves in the dance communities of Montana. They easily convinced Soular Spice to make the arduous cross country trip to celebrate the new year together. 

Soular Spice  has been DJing Since 2017, playing events such as Grasshopper and The Magic Stick in Detroit, Opener for Christian Martin and Stanton Warriors and is a resident DJ for Dance Music Needs You (based in Kalamazoo)

To bring in the new year, We pirated Starlight Reunion’s Party Bus in our own Kzoo style takeover. Filled with some prog house, a little DnB and bass wubs, and techno. We like it. We think y’all like it too.

Starlight Thursdays Episode 96 featuring MumbleBee. This is the 4th mix of their’s we’ve hosted and they just keep getting better. Mumblebee’s creative process and story telling has captivated us in so many ways and we hope you feel the same.  
MumbleBee (they/them) This mix was inspired by a late night in December. Sleep wouldn’t reach me, so I mixed. What I came up with is an organic and jaunty experiment of sounds. I quite like it, I’d like to share it. Some of the selections in this mix made it into live sets that I curated at the beginning of 2022. 
A few words about MumbleBee
MumbleBee is a time traveling Technomancer from Kalamazoo in the year 2077. During an animated amalgamation experiment gone wrong, they took a tumble into a rogue timestream and landed in Missoula Montana: Late 2020. A few words from MumbleBee 
This is a post-recording of a live mix I played at Drum & Bass Nite _1 in Missoula. I was inspired to organize a DnB focused event after going to Denver last year to see Noisa play their final tour. Being in that gigantic room absolutely packed with DnB heads was a communal and connecting experience. Much later on, I met another DJ named Pandaura at a party in a quarry. We got to geeking out about DnB and it all fell into place for me – how many more of us are there in Montana? So I organized the DnB thing to lure the DnB heads, and crafted a mix that I’m quite proud of. I invite you to enjoy its re-creation. :3 -MumbleBee-

In June 2018, I celebrated my birthday by attending my first EDM show at Knoxvills, where I saw Drezo perform. Last night I had the incredible opportunity to open for him at Temple Ball Room. The universe works in mysterious and magical ways, creating what feels like a perfect full circle moment. I am filled with gratitude for this amazing experience and the opportunity that was bestowed upon me. A big thank you to everyone who came out to show their support.
