Take One -- In The Realm Of Pure Spirituality (Om Bhoor - Bhuvah Svah)

In a cozy wooden cottage, late one night,
A woodman sighed with his pipe alight,
"Without a child, it’s far too still,
To fill this home with laughter’s thrill."

The wife replied with a wistful smile,
“Oh, if we had one, even tiny and small,
As little as my thumb, I’d still feel grand,
To hold such a child within my hand.”

Tom Thumb, Tom Thumb, as small as can be,
Brave as a lion and wild as the sea,
Though tiny in size, his spirit would roam,
For a heart so bold, no place but home.

So it happened, and lo and behold,
Tom Thumb was born—a sight to hold!
Though little he stayed, his eyes shone bright,
A clever spark, so quick and light.

“Put me in the horse’s ear!” he said,
“Guide you through fields with words instead!”
The woodman laughed, but oh, he tried,
And off they went with Tom as guide.

Brave as a lion and wild as the sea,
Though tiny in size, his spirit would roam,
For a heart so bold, no place but home.

With strangers' greed and Tom’s sly winks,
He hopped in a hat with daring kinks.
“Oh, let them chase, for I’ll slip away,
Into fields and holes where I can play.”

Into a mouse-hole, snug and tight,
He chuckled, hid through the falling night.
With tricks and wits, he’d often say,
“Oh, I’m small, but I’ll have my way.”

Though tiny in size, his spirit would roam,
For a heart so bold, no place but home.

From cows to wolves, he’d travel on,
And trick his captors, every one.
For though he was small, his heart stayed true,
Till he found his way back, like fresh morning dew.

Brave as a lion and wild as the sea,
Though tiny in size, his spirit would roam,
For a heart so bold, no place but home.

And when he returned to his mother’s care,
They hugged him tight, with love to spare.
And though he wandered far and wide,
Tom knew that love was by his side.

THE ARTIST

Gerhard A. Schreiber was a member of post-punk and new wave bands in West Germany in the 1980s. He worked with the singer Markus and the producer Axel Klopprogge, both icons of the New German Wave. He composed film scores in the 1990s and 2000s and began designing a cool jazz album in the 2010s. The compositions were completed in 2023, the recordings were made in 2024. The album contains sophisticated songs, based on modern cool jazz style, interestingly arranged and sensually interpreted.

Now based in Berlin, 'The Perfect Match' represents my memories of places and people I met in my long musical way.
