Coffee With Lions is a melodic energetic punk band from York, PA that is heavily influenced from the 80’s/90’s DC punk scene. 

Formed in 2019 with zero expectations or plans, Coffee With Lions was a return to music for each of its members who had drifted away from the central pa music scene as the years wore on. The intent was to shake the dust off, learn some of covers and maybe write a few; but mostly it was a good way to end the week with beers and friends.

Fast forward a year… All cover songs had been eliminated and CWL was writing new music at the rate of 1 song per month and had enough original material to fill a set. Reaching out the few old contacts still active in the area and making introductions to new contacts, CWL landed their first show at HMAC in Harrisburg PA. This show was the turning point where each member saw the impact of their music that was being heard for the first time on a stage in front of a half full venue of about 50 people that wandered in to check out the opening band of a festival that included over 15 other bands. By the second song the conversations amongst those in the crowd lessened and the attention turned to the stage. This was a feeling that was all but forgotten for each member. CWL discovered that something productive actually came out of the prior year’s worth of beers, jamming and blowing off steam at the end of the week. The band’s first compliment was “These guys are really good for an opening band…” Following the first show, more contacts were made and CWL spent the next year playing several shows a month before everything stopped in March of 2021.

The break from live shows due to covid came when the band had stopped scheduling shows to begin working on recording their first release. CWL takes pride in DIY and had good results but the process was beginning to consume all of their available time and as a result, the writing process came to a halt. Chris Wood and Scott Gross (From Autumn to Ashes) recorded CWL’s first EP titled “E. Ninth Ave.” released in December of 2020. On the heels of their first release, a split is in the works with Break City Dowwners with an expected release of April 2021.
