A song is a hype new drop every time you sing it. There’s no expiry date on a song, you just need to keep singing. I sang these songs over and over again this past year when I needed words that weren’t my own. 

Every song I write is the sum of every song I’ve ever heard. This album appropriates and shines new lights on songs that mean heaps to me. 

The local woman universe exists between synth, decks, ableton, bass, and voice. It’s informed by a constant conversation I have as a working DJ, with the places I play and the people I play for. Thanks to everyone who has ever come out and heard me play, you are in this too.

Hater & Hey You!

Before it was a song, Snake Groove was a poem. David: 'I was listening to a lot of David Keenan and wanted to try and emulate his use of imagery. The song depicts a soldier in foreign lands, trying to find his way while battling the hyenas that plague his thoughts. The finale channels the dying words of the soldier fallen in battle.'

Snake Groove is the first single borne of a new partnership with producer Steve Grainger (Lizzie Esau, Chloe and the Brainwaves). The track, written in a barn in deep Cambridgeshire and recorded in a castle in Lincolnshire, shows off their novel, evolved sound, which combines the intensity of the band's live energy, the vast breadth of their influences and the depth of their songwriting experience built up over a decade of working together.
