From our Todmorden meeting, to walk, listen, chat and record.

On December 13th 5 members of the group met for 3 hours to create sonic responses to science fiction/fantasy images. After exploring the VCS3 Synth and viewing a 1970s science fiction tumblr we decided to settle on this image by Geoff Taylor. Following discussion about the sonic potential we agreed to create just one piece between us, sharing out various elements of the work: the flying ship sound and other elements to work with the mood of the genre and the landscape. We spent an hour recording Foley objects and a piano, before moving into the studio. The composition actually came together in about 45 minutes on three different computers, compiled quickly. The purpose of the session being to a) make b) share info c) work collaboratively and enjoy being  in that space. Participants were Linda Lewis, Rosie Pea, Jo Kennedy, Abi Bliss and Liz Dobson. It should not be forgotten that there was cake, fruit, tea and chatter - thanks to Huddersfield Uni for the space and kit access.

Nice work with the water. After recording various sounds Libby added water recordings. She performed the water in various different ways and structured the piece around the sound of those recordings.
