This is the second single off the upcoming album "Low and Behold, High and Beyond". The track was produced in true Sola Rosa collaboration style with Andrew Spraggon writing the music and working with Olivier via skype, phone and email, and Olivier recording the vocals in London. The track was mixed by Yaron Fuchs, whose expertise behind the boards has seen him work with artists such as Talib Kweili, Public Enemy and Kings of Leon, while mastering was done by Ricardo Gutierrez (Justin Timberlake, Just Blaze). on the flip you can find a remix treatment by TALL BLACK GUY.

Tall Black Guy - Running Away Too 3's

Having given us one of the most successful album releases in the Wah Wah catalogue with their eponymous debut over 18 months ago now, Bristol siblings in jazz the Colman Brothers have finally succumbed to the remix project we’ve all been waiting for, and what a project it is!

The brothers’ sophisticated style and penchant for 60s latin influenced jazz by the likes of Horace Silver and Francy Bolland has been brought right up-to-date by some of the most heavyweight producers around, and a few new names to watch. 

Up and coming beat-maker from Caracas, Venezula, Jimmy Flamante kicks things off in a low slung style akin to producer of the moment Tall Black Guy, who also features with his typically laid back re-working of one of the original album’s highlights. Elsewhere, latin specialist Sunlightsquare drops a 4/4 version of “Some Other Wonder” that’s aimed strictly at the dance floor, as does the mysterious Bman, and newcomers Skinshape impress with a dubbed out take of  the very cheeky “Momo”.

Look out for Herma Puma’s re-imagination of “The Chief”, taking it directly back to its B-Movie roots, as well as the popular interpretation by our very own Part-Time Heroes. And don’t forget label mate/boss Scrimshire who also weighs in with a sultry remix of “She Who Dares” and beat heads Frameworks, whose version of “El Nino” will keep lovers of both hip hop and jazz happy in equal measure.

Add to that sublime mixes from UK legends Easy Access Orchestra and The Herbaliser, NYC’s Greenwood Rhythm Coalition, Hamburg’s Renegades Of Jazz and of course, Bristol’s very own Colman Brothers themselves, and you’ve got an international selection of the highest order!

Skyzoo says... "With “A Song For Fathers”, I wanted to make a theme song for fellow dads to celebrate on Father’s Day, as well as every day that we may need to hear some encouragement. We’ve all grown up to music that celebrates motherhood, which has been beautiful and is always needed, but the songs celebrating fatherhood, although existing, have been few and far between.

Production wise I specifically went to !llmind, who’s been a frequent collaborator of mine throughout my career, for two reasons: one, he’s one of the greatest producers ever, and his specialty is bringing your idea to life larger than you’d imagined, and two, if you know !llmind you know he makes music due to his dad having been a musician in his own right. His dad passed away awhile back and I know he’s hugely influenced by his dad’s legacy, so I knew he’d understand the importance of such a record. Needless to say, he hit it out the park.

In our current climate as a people, the reality of families being left without a father is deafening. Due to all of the social injustices that are ringing louder than ever, we’re seeing the impact of fathers being stripped away from their loved ones. Although I wrote this record way before our current events began to take place (summer ‘19), the timing is eerily spot on. This is one of my favorite records I’ve ever written, and if it somehow becomes the record I’m most known for down the line, I couldn’t be prouder."

Lockdown

Extra Medium is a production duo: Buscrates 16-Bit Ensemble and Sam Champ. This is their first project together, although the two have been close friends for two decades. The EP will be available both digitally and as a 10" April 29, 2013. It will include 4 tracks from their upcoming album release.

The concept of the album is that the foundation for every song comes from a single sample source: a particular piece of vinyl that's neither rare nor well-known outside of a handful of producers. What began as a friendly two-man beat competition grew into a full scale project that includes over a half dozen vocalists, an executive producer (OP! from I Love Vinyl), and a Philadelphia-based record label (Record Breakin' Music). The album is schedule for a Fall 2013 release.
