Commissioned by the Eastman Wind Ensemble, Mark Davis Scatterday, Conductor, and a consortium of wind ensembles in honor of the Eastman School of Music’s Centennial Anniversary. Consortium members include Carthage Wind Orchestra (Carthage College), CCM Wind Ensemble (University of Cincinnati), Eastman Wind Ensemble (Eastman School of Music), Nevada Wind Ensemble (University of Nevada, Reno), Symphonic Wind Ensemble (Northwestern University), TCNJ Wind Ensemble (The College of New Jersey), Wind Symphony (Ohio University), and the UNC Wind Ensemble (The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill)

PROGRAM NOTE
The Winds of Time was inspired by the title and content of the poem of the same name by Tanzanian poet and novelist Euphrase Kezilahabi. I created musical elements from the various words, phrases and metaphors in his poem, especially those related to wind and water: watching the waves rising, falling, swelling, surging, and waves being driven by winds. The passage of time, inevitability, darkness, and the poem’s overall despair are represented throughout the ensemble with various bells, drums, winds, exotic instruments, and a few non-standard playing techniques.

Although this work is divided into three connected movements, Waves rising, falling, swelling, surging, Bending space/time, and Colossal chimes, fading light, it is more a rhapsody than narrative in structure. Various themes and motives gradually come into the foreground and recede into the background throughout the entire work, similar to how shells wash up on a shore and then become lost to the sand.

The Winds of Time was commissioned by the Eastman School of Music Wind Ensemble, Mark Davis Scatterday, Conductor, and a consortium of wind ensembles in honor of Eastman’s 100th anniversary.

No Room for Defeat

Dark Mind

Last year I went to a black out park where no light pollution is allowed. My wife and I went to the shoreline and watched an odd sounding boat fly across the water line and pause. It then began to hover roughly 100 feet in the air. My wife and I looked at each other astonished. Soon after it began dancing In a rhythmic pattern similar to how a Bee signals where pollen is. Two orbs came out of the water dancing in sync with the craft above. A shaft opened on the bottom of the craft both Orbs went inside the craft. The dancing Rythm changed and the craft fired three red orbs deep into the water. The craft continued to dance for awhile and then began to hover closer to My wife and I's location getting very close to the ground (roughly Twenty feet) We began to fear what would happen. The craft soon flew up in a lazy motion and then took up speed and vanished out of plain sight. We soon left the area that we had experienced this and watched as the Red orbs came out of the water and Began scanning where we had Been sitting. It shot a White laser pattern all over the area the orbs moved with excellent agility. This was a wild experience that showed me we are not alone. I hope you enjoy this piece as this experience inspired this as well. Thankyou and have a good night.

Acting in the hip hop scene since 1988, Cortecertu makes experimental beats. He is a contributor to the website Bocada Forte, the first hip hop website in Brazil, and produces beats for several artists in the alternative scene, including the band Decore.

Robert E Flynn III is a software-developer, author and musician from San Antonio, TX. He is living with his beautiful fiancé, Claudia, whose delightful, positive outlook on life has given him the motivation to finish this work. He has two wonderful children, Caitlin and Zachary, who are grown and exploring their own fantastic lives. He has spent his entire life pursuing creative endeavors. Music was his first love and still is, and writing was always part of his life. 
Robert lived in Austin, Texas for many years and was part of the music scene in the city during that time. He was a member of several bands during those days and tremendously enjoyed playing live in many venues in the music rich area. Music is a great example of our creativity, which speaks to the Creation of all things. He also lived in Denver, Colorado for several years when his children were young and then relocated back to San Antonio, Texas to be close to family.
Night of the Living Dead was recorded at Salmon Peak Studio in San Antonio, Texas.  Mark Sinko acted as the recording engineer and also contributed a guitar part on the song.  Robert Flynn’s longest friend, Brian “Red” Moore played bass on the track as well.  Brian is the lead recording engineer at Q Productions in Corpus Christi, Texas. Q Productions is owned by the famous music artist, Selena Quintanilla-Pérez’s father.  Brian also plays bass and sings on most of the tracks I currently have on Soundcloud.  In addition to Brian, other contributors and long time friends are on these recordings also.  Jerry Bazil, from Michigan, plays drums on several tracks. Bobby Lancaster, from Texas, plays drums on several tracks as well.  Also, Joe Mota, from Texas,  plays keyboards on several tracks (Sadly, Joe is no longer with us, but he was a genius in many ways musically and an inspiration to me). 
I play keyboards, guitar, drums and vocals throughout these tracks.
