Creeping Beauty

An ode to a 28 ys old, huge (at least six feet up to the shoulder…) Westphalian gelding i know and love quite (... :)...) well, named LKW (LastKraftWagen = Lorry)


Ye’ Olde Lorry 

There they come
I already heard and smelled the engine
when they drove on the farm
They come with a bucket full of this Irish mash along
That they prepared at home, that they prepared with love
With carrots and some senior food 
That is always lifting my mood
I can feel how my teeth start to chew
With a deep relief…

I feel their unconditional love,
When she brushes my body so gently
And afterwards combs my long tail
Then she scrapes my hoove out
In former days the bridle was put on
Then i was saddled and we’d walk on a perfect riding trail
Then we  would just fly over the stubble fields
Passed shallow riverbeds in the glittering sun
I felt her taking deep breaths
Exhaling grief and sorrowness
Releasing all the locks and getting relaxed...

Now i’m already quite old
Since a couple of years we just do no rides together no more
I think it’s okay that way 
Strolling with my mates 
Over the meadows day by day
Malming grass and hay 
Sometimes we still go out for a walk through the countryside
Where the blades of grass are swinging in the wind nearby
Now and then I stop and gaze pensively at the sight 
Then she rubs her nose in my fur
And she is clapping me gently and both of us give a content sigh …

Love Hate Lie

I wrote this song about 15 years ago. The original version sounds much different, and in my opinion, much worse. I heard it recently and realized that I have struggled to record this song for years in its truest form. I think I've captured this song finally. It's not perfect. None of my work is. But I'm happy that this song is finally in the world of songs now. After 15 years with my lover, it was certainly a "Right Whim".

My sword is my mouth and I
Need to get gone know why
My edge is by sharpness
that's dull on the side

I've got one night to live
even a right whim did
give me a gentle wind
I'll breathe it in.
