Here are 2 Scottish reels played in the Cape Breton style.  Roddy MacDonald is based on Donald Macleod's arrangement and  is similar to the Irish reel The Blackberry Bush and the 19th c reel Sandy Cameron  is popular among fiddlers and pipers alike even today

@ Quicksteps : A 4 parted setting of  Highland Laddie based on the playing of the MacArthur pipers in Codroy Newfoundland (Play it Like You Sing It, Vol 2 p. 227 ) where it appears in three parts  and an old setting of Culloden Day (AKA The Inverness Gathering) I learned the second  tune from an old wax recording of JJ Chisholm  (1850-1935, see photo)made around 1905 . Th player was originally from Antigonish county Nova Scotia. and played violin, piano and pipes.

Two more jigs played in the Cape Breton style. The Black Hoe is a gardening implement  and not the other "other" thing and can be found in The Gathering of the Clans Collection Vol 1 . The Drover Lads is a very old tune and in Cape Breton there are Gaelic words associated with the tune.. Gillean an Dròbhair. It is also known as the "Grumbling Carle". This setting was published in the Cape Breton Collection of Bagpipe Music.
