A brass chorale, written as part of my graduate diploma studies in Film and Game Scoring at the Film Scoring Academy of Europe. Recorded live at Doli Media Studio in Sofia, Bulgaria (with two additional parts added after the fact because of a mix-up on my part of getting all the parts to the studio for the session).

„Flüsternde Stille“

Ein poetisches Klanggemälde gewidmet den zarten und leisen Geräuschen des Waldes wo der Wind seinen Atem einhaucht. 
Die Nebelschwaden die Bäume umhüllen.
Diesen Moment habe ich versucht klanglich mit einem imaginären Cello-Ensemble malerisch mit deren zarten Bögen einzufangen. 
Taucht ein in die zarte, klanglich und berauschende Poesie des Windes.
Du kannst das leise flüstern der Stille hören.

"Whispering Silence"

A poetic sound painting dedicated to the delicate and quiet sounds of the forest where the wind breathes its breath.
The wafts of fog envelop the trees.
I tried to capture this moment with an imaginary cello ensemble and their delicate bows.
Immerse yourself in the delicate, tonal and intoxicating poetry of the wind.
You can hear the soft whisper of silence.

The Trestle Tree (Symphony of the Mountains performance at Banner Elk)

A/Tonal is a contemporary music ensemble that has a mission of bridging the gap between traditional and new music with unique musical experiences.  As a champion of new music, A/Tonal frequently performs works by living composers and recently recorded its first EP featuring music by Daniel Gilliam and Erich Stem, our resident composers.  

Erich Stem arranged this piece in his language, featuring a mix of American Jazz, pop, and classical influences.  Even though there isn't a percussion instrument in the mix, the combination of rhythms that Stem brings together between the 3 musicians generates a pulse throughout the work, giving it movement and "groove".

Donald Sorah is Associate Professor of Music at The University of Virginia’s College at Wise where he teaches courses in music technology, composition, trumpet performance, orchestration, conducting, music education, and jazz. 

Dr. Sorah is a composer who writes in a variety of styles from traditional chamber and orchestral works to chamber music and music for media. 

Dr. Sorah is a member of the Symphony of the Mountains and Johnson City Symphony. He has taught and performed throughout Europe and South America. He also is the founder and conductor of Winds of the Mountain Empire. 

His credentials include a bachelor of music education degree, a master of music in trumpet performance, and a PhD in music education.
