AfroKrip, a term I,Leroy Moore, thought of (2016) to help united Afro disabled people around the African diaspora associate to Krip-Hop during and after becoming politicized. As a Black disabled activist/artist living in America having a need and vision of connecting with other disabled artists/activists in the African diaspora realized there must be terminology that we can speaks about our experiences.   We also have to come up with our own words, original theory and politics to establish a framework to unlearn and relearn in our own empowering ways.

Hahahaha I’m the Black Kripple and this is a commercial break of what’s coming up on Krip-Hop radio right here on KEXU  96.1 FM LP  we are going to highlight Black disabled comic, visual artists, animation creators who many created works for Krip-Hop Nation and so much more featuring Ottis Smith who painted two pieces for Krip-Hop and our new logo and has a  new motion comic,The Source and Alillia Johnson who painted two pieces for Krip-Hop. We will also have short interviews with the legend, DMC that’s right from Run DMC who wrote a comic book with a character with mental health disability and @KOUNTERCLOCKWISE aka  Deacon Burns who years ago got into animation films and made the first Krip-Hop animation music video  called the Whip. He will be talking about his new projects and the music video.  We even got Ghana’s disabled based comic book author, Farida Bedwei,talking about her new comic book,  KARMZAH!

I'm sorry, but this listserv is for those who support the Democratic
Party. It is not a platform for those who oppose it.

We are also a forum for disability activists. Although you are
disabled, you don't speak about the oppression of persons with
disabilities. You don't even relate the oppression of persons with
disabilities to the other struggles you espouse. It is significant
that in your listing of the convention speakers who most spoke to
you, you didn't list Marca Bristo, who gave the strongest disability
rights message among the speakers.

There are many other African-American disabled activists who would
have had far greater appreciation for the opportunity you were given
to attend the Democratic National Convention as delegates.
Unfortunately, you aren't relating to them!

What bothers most of us from California is that Disability Caucus
members were deliberately ignored and passed up. We were told to tell our
people to learn how to run for delegates positions by August Longo. When the ones who had, were ignored only to have the ones who had not (August and Leroy) were picked as delegates and sent to the convention. Then August does not do reports and the reports Leroy does do talks about the need for a third party, and puts down the democratic party. Does not speaks about disability issues, and speaks about someone who attended for the purpose to speak about the needs of minority issue more. Had Leroy ever worked with the Disabilities committee members and community within the party he would have found that many of the issues he is concerned about are being talked about, are being worked on, and many many more issues. It is to bad that people are sent to meeting who do not really know what is going on in their own state, never mind their own back yard.

Building Process To Krip-Hop Politics #2

Hello this is Leroy Moore from Krip-Hop Nation, Poor Magazine & The National Black Disability Coalition I’m here with a small essay I wrote entitled Black Disabled Resistance Has Always Been Here

When people say overcome your disability it mean to erase our history, accomplishments, arts, music, politics and most importantly keeps us separate continue to working for others and being hush in our own Black community.  This has to stop & we must educate our communities of many Black disabled ancestors like Harriet Tubman to Elias Hill to Fannie Lou Hamer to Al Hibbler to George Washington Eames Jr to Brad Lomax  and much more with different glasses on.  In 2019-2020, we must look at  our history with & without our disability cultural, disability studies and disability activism lens because we must look at what they have done in their times before the disability rights movement and what came after.  There were no disability empowerment only survival in Black disabled bodies in most of our Black disabled ancestors that I mentioned but  they contribute to what we live today..

Since 1980’s I have researched and wrote about Black disabled people and what they gave us & what they lived through from slavery to Jim Crow to Civil Rights to Blues to Hip-Hop and beyond so it’s time for not only Black disabled courses but an empowering Black disabled community locally, nationally and internationally.  I can go on and on about the contributions that people I mentioned have left us to learn from but the question is do we have the space to learn or are we brainwash to overcome our history, art etc. inside and outside of academia…..

National Black Disability Coalition for almost five years have traveled from campus to campus speaking on the importance of having a Black Disability course but till today no campus took our ideal and proposal for a course!  Yes Black disabled activists/cultural workers are doing their part but with very little ongoing institutional support and because of this it not only helps to hush hush of Black  disabled history but with all of that Black disabled resistance is still here. The question going into 2020 is how can we/you support it collectively?  As a fifty-two year old, I see that this question can be the different between elimination or continuation of Black disabled radical education, activism and cultural work.  As a person heading toward elderly-hood, I hope that there will be space for Back disabled radical activism who will continue Black disabled resistance that need to become a collective with or without funding, mainstream media bling & institutional push because it has alway been here. Black Disabled Resistance Has Always Been Here!

Hello peeps yes it’s been a long time since my last part dealing with lynching & Black disabled bodies sorry about that.  For the last year and half I’ve been deep into my upcoming book, Black Disabled Ancestors that will coming out in Feb 2020 under Poor Press of Poor Magazine.  For almost three years, I’ve been visited by Black disabled ancestors in my sleep who some were abused by police for example the story entitled:  Eleanor Bumpurs  and Korryn  Gaines Comes Back Talk About Black & Blue Left On Their Black Disabled Bodies By The Police. This episode is going to be different from the last two Slavery and Lynching that have historical facts and stories.  In Black Disabled Bodies & Police Part 3 will be more based on recent work around police brutality against people with disabilities and activism by people with disabilities & who are Deaf.

I  was excited to see the tv series, Underground, an American television period drama series created by Misha Green and Joe Pokaski about the Underground Railroad in Antebellum Georgia. The show debuted March 9, 2016, on WGN America. On April 25, 2016, WGN renewed the show for a 10-episode second season, that premiered on March 8, 2017.   From my viewpoint Underground for me was one of the first maistream televison series that really dealt with Harriet Tubman’s voilent attack on her that cause her brian inury that played a major role in her work in the Underground Railroad.  A lot of Black scholars go back to slave catchers as the first formation of police.  From then to today there are no collected data on police brutality/kiling of Black disabled bodies or any disabled bodies.

I’ve beeen an activist against police bruutality since the late 1980’s and I remember the Eleanor Bumpurs’ case in New York and even writing a letter to the editor of Amsterdam News, a Black Newspapwer in NY..  And I remember the roll out of what would become popular in the 1990’s and early 2000’s and even still today and that was police crissis training.  

In this episode of Black Disabled Bodies we look at police brutality on Black disabled bodies through not only my experiences but other Black/Brown disabled activists, movements, some cases and Krip-Hop Nation’s cultural work around this issues.  I just want to say since the late 1980’s more and more disabled activists/artists have made their voice heard around the issue of police burtality and people with disabilities from Poor Magazine to Idriss Stelley Foundation to the Harriet Tubman Collective to Helping Educate to Advance the Rights of Deaf Communities - HEARD to Sunjay Lloyd Tojuhwa Smith to Dustin Gibson to Lydia X. Z. Brown & so many more.  As I said in the last two  episodes, what you will  hear and read is from my experience, research, writings, activism and cultural work and I know there is a lot out there that I’m not covering here. Most will only be audio and some will be video. Most will go up on Krip-Hop soundclooud or youtube page. We will try to get our video caption. First one will go upon Monday April 20th with Krip-Hop chapter in Germany, Manfred Schmerz where he talks about police out of control and the welfare state in Germany under this virus.
