DGTL Records marks its fifth anniversary in style with brand new album ‘5YRS of DGTL Records’. The 14-track long player is released on April 16th as a 4x 12” vinyl set and drops digitally across 4 separate EP releases between February 18 and April 1, of which the third one features Adriatique, Roman Flügel and Nicky Elisabeth. All three make their debut on the imprint.

5YRS of DGTL Records is a perfect reflection of not just of the label itself but also its global event patron: headliners sitting equally alongside local talent and up-and-coming acts. Over the past five years, DGTL Records has grown into its own as a fully-fledged musical arm of the overall DGTL musical experience.

Adriatique (@adriatique) ramps up the third release with the uplifting and progressive track, ‘Arcade Mode’. A constant drive is layered throughout the track supported by deep kicks, warm synths and soothing sound design, ‘Arcade Mode’ delivers you a sense of enlightenment and freedom.
Roman Flügel (@roman-fluegel) brings in the sun with ‘The Mass’. Tribal elements are found throughout, from the jumpy drum patterns to springy synths, which helps deliver this sense of optimism even further, embodying a truly warm summer song. 
To close the third release Nicky Elisabeth (@nicky-elisabeth) delivers ‘Into Your Arms’, riddled with a sense of nostalgia, yet also hopefulness. With soothing vocals and warm percussions throughout the track, lose yourself to memories of the past as breakcore drum patterns and bouncy kicks take you by surprise.

"My Desire" in the original, shows a healthy dose of that early 90s spirit combined with a pop sensibility. It is very complete and rounded and in the true sense for us the hit of the album. The track pins down the essence of The MFA album "Lights Out" released in two weeks time. It shows from many angles the intensity of what club culture is about. The track has for sure, that pop quality which sets it apart.

Already celebrated for its influential house & techno output and long running Body
Language mix series, Get Physical’s first move in 2017 is a big one: a 16 track
compilation of largely new and exclusive material all from South African artists.
South Africa is getting more and more attention from the dance world recently, and
for good reason. The country is spawning its own unique club sounds, exciting new
artists and dazzling DJs who are making more and more waves worldwide. Black
Coffee is the most prominent of these, but now we get introduced to a whole load
more thanks to some great A&R from Get Physical who commission new cuts as well as delving into their back catalogue.
Things kick off with the warm and engaging house of Aero Manyelo before the pace
picks up with Ryan Murgatroyd who serves up the lush and instrumental ‘Kanna’, a
love struck tune that really embodies the balmy sounds of South African house.
Celebrated international flag bearer Black Coffee then steps up with his ‘Buya’ as
remixed in chunky and club slaying fashion by Loco Dice.
Cape Town talent Thor Rixon, the hotly tipped Blanka Mazimela, Jazzuelle and
acclaimed vocalist Lazarusman and BehrEllips Ft. Crazy White Boy all appear to
serve up four bumping beats that are awash with sunset melodies, spoken word
whispers and loose, tumbling percussive grooves. Each one sounds fresh and seems
to truly reflect the country in which it was made.
The wash of first wave South African house talents continues in the second half of
the compilation, with the much hyped Crazy White Boy making their second
appearance here. Then we have Boiler Room star Floyd Lavine, the Red Bull backed
Bruce Loko and newly emerging Gumz all serving up two tracks each and showing
that a darker and more mysterious sound also exists in the grooves of the southern
hemisphere.
All in all this is an exemplary selection of tunes that serves as a reminder and/or fine
introduction to the many talented artists emerging from South Africa’s vibrant house
scene. The album also comes with a continous mixed version put together by Ryan
Murgatroyd.

Universe Within You

The collective comprising of Baby Nova, Das Bee and Kyle OBR has taken the Cape Town electronic scene by storm, having played at some of the Mother City's most notable festivals and venues. Their ability to curate numerous electronic genres, ranging from soft South African House to bouncy, glitchy Euro breakbeat, will have any dance floor buzzing at any given time and place. With live music being a focal point for the group, their incorporation of guitar, synthesizers and percussion create nothing short of an experience. What's next for the trio?
