A snapshot of recent Saturday Sessions at The Carlton, In Newcastle, Staffordshire. Here's the first couple of hours, of a six hour set. A bag full of classic tunes, only a bit different than you've heard them before........ Disco, Funk and Soul......... and a little bit of Jaaaaaames Brown!

A collection of my favourite tunes that I played in the basement at the 4 Aces at Club Labrynth, during my residency in 93 and 94.  It was my first residency at Dalston Lane, where as a teen I learned to read a crowd and craft sets that  were a journey over the two hours I was usually given.  My taste was often deep and progrsssive with the odd vocal track.  93' was my favourite ever year for music, as progressive exploded into the scene and took house music to a whiole new level.  

That little basement in a rave club, was as good as any club I visited in 93', and I visited quite a few. DJ Corrie was my idol at the time, a top top guy and unbelievably talented and skilful DJ from Argentina, who I played alongside most weeks.  I'd write his tracklist down most weeks and visit him in Zoom where he worked to pick up my favourites.  It's where I bought Perfect Virtue by Shit-Take, on their Zoom Records imprint. At the time DJ Billy Nasty was heading the shop. Zoom was one to get the best progressive house alongside Bluebird Records in Bromley and Apple Records and Swag Records in Croydon.

If you liked early progressive house, you might like some of these classics, all Labrynth basement anthems in my tenure on their decks.

Labrynth and particularly promoter Joe inspired my to start my own parties and without Labrynth there would be no Kinky Malinki so me and Paul have a lot to credit Joe and Club Labrynth with.  It deserves every bit of it's legendary status and so does Joe too.
