Charles Andre aka Charles Fenckler is a young French producer and the latest in new talent to join the Soma roster. Passionate about electronic music from a young age, he has matured into a full fledged producer composing an interesting style of Techno gliding between deep and melodic dub infused Techno, integrating influences stretching between Detroit & Berlin drawing inspiration from icons as Juan Atkins, Derrick May and Shed. With such musical knowledge for someone so young, Charles Fenckler invites you to travel into his universe, filled with deep and powerful Techno.

Anklam comes straight out the block with a fast paced drum structure reminiscent of early Shed productions. The whole track is given a real Detroit feel with a perfectly designed synth stab that filters in an out perfectly as stylized 909 percussion gives this the drive of a top end modern techno production.

Block keeps the pace of the EP going as once again, Fenckler delivers a deep driving Techno track, designed for the floor. Energetic, synths with subtle delays are allowed to work this track while simple and effective percussion drop in and out making this a real groover with a late 90’s feel to it.

Fenckler ends the EP of a suitably deep note with Fabric. His rhythms are tight and another perfectly balanced synth hook keeps this track firmly rooted at the deeper end of Techno. Most certainly thought out with the dance floor in mind once again this could easily work its way into peak time or end of the night takedowns.

Fenckler shows that simplicity is the key with Techno and does so with great ease. A fantastic knowledge of rhythm and shows he is definitely one to watch in the future.

Dozzy and Neel's exciting new label Spazio Disponibile serves up a third release this summer, with the latest one coming from Italian Marco Shuttle. The techno stylist and Eerie boss serves up three tracks that continue to mark out his heady and hypnotic aesthetic. 

'Flusso Dinamico' opens up the EP with sevens minutes of brooding, streamlined and slick techno that is spooky and haunting. A gentle cacophony of big bells stomp over slick rubber drums and suck you deep into the groove. ‘Danza Cinetica’ is then darker and more intense but just as spacious and involving, with paranoid melodic daubs falling from above as suggestive little synth sounds bleep below. Lastly, 'Flauto Synthetico' is an adventurous 11 minute opus with slow, undulating drums forming a basis for experimental synth patterns, rugged phasing and distant bleeps to all colour the airwaves with a sense of late night and futuristic menace. It is music that is both cerebral yet visceral and fits in nicely with the MO of the Italian label so far.

Oscar Mulero is a one-man techno institution. Operating out of Madrid since the late 1980s, his productions reflect his deep understanding of techno through his tireless and disciplined work behind the decks. After his first release on Token in 2008, the ferocious Take Seven EP, Mulero teamed up with the comparably-accomplished Christian Wünsch for two more Token releases as Spherical Coordinates, sophisticated offerings of refined big room and bleep tracks.
 
Now he’s back with another solo 4-track contribution that feels like classic Mulero. Hyperbolic Paths is simultaneously deep and bleepy, accented by hi-hats in syncopation. The tom-heavy Suborbital Trajectories carries a serious groove, layered with lively melodic elements and an occasional unexpected statement cymbal crash. A haunting and hypnotic number, Inclination swells and increases in intensity, rolling on after its breakdown with a playful kick-clap interaction. Eccentricity is a spacious, dubby closing track with reverb-soaked ornamental splashes.

TOKEN64 - Oscar Mulero - Hyperbolic Paths EP

Rødhåd's label has gone from strength-to-strength recently and the trajectory of the imprint has sky-rocketed in line with the German's booming popularity. Drumcell, Alex.Do and John Hester have all dazzled with EPs this year but it's Monoloc's album that's the label's jewell in the crown.

You can stream the premiere of 'Muted' that's been taken from 'The Untold Way' and unsurprisingly it's a slab of cold, metalic techno that punches and slams with malicious intent. Exciting times for Borchardt and indeed Dystopian.
