The power behind 2022’s three-track ‘PauPau’ EP kicks into gear again on Clarisse to show who’s the hottest on the block right now. ‘Hot Spot’ pulls off a contrast of deep bass-sewn house, coming to the boil and zigzagging with patient percussion, and a pretty audacious hook swooping in and breathing fire, toughening the beats along the way. Warping the vocals of a 70s disco queen until they’re scorched under the spotlight, don’t be surprised if everyone in attendance goes the whole hog and starts singing the words back in a state of delighted undress.
