Attesa (Expectation) employs the music of one of Casulana’s secular madrigals, Io d’odorate fronde, self-published in Il secondo libro de’ madrigali a quattro voci (1570). This modern edition is a faithful transcription of Casulana’s original manuscript with very minor adaptations, and the new text has been idiomatically constructed by Miriam Endersby to serve Casulana’s compositional style. The work is also available in an English translation of the Italian words, again by Miriam Endersby.

Wonder, wonder

This performance of Sweet Suffolk Owl, of one of three different compositions by Elizabeth Poston on the same text, was recorded in 1975 at a private concert to celebrate the composer's 70th birthday. The sound recording has been restored by Richard Jeffrey-Gray, specialist sound engineer of Hoxa, to whom Multitude of Voyces is indebted.

Elizabeth Poston: 'Sweet Suffolk Owl' (1925)

This recording is taken from a 1971 performance of Elizabeth Poston's An English Kalendar(not to be confused with An English Day-Book,) a multi-part work for choir, narrator, piano and percussion. 

This performance was given by Tiffin School Choir, conducted by Bruce Pullan, piano David Nield as part of the Farnham Festival in 1971.

We are indebted to Richard Jeffrey-Gray of Hoxa sound engineering, for his expert work in restoring this recording. The original recording was made by 'erase' of New Malden Surrey
