Water

"Medicine” is a song-anthem honoring the traditions of folk medicine; plant-based medicine as a tool for empowerment and healing. It is a call to action to support the voices of the herbalists, healers, and teachers… the roots, plants, trees, and stones… the arts, the spirits, and the wild ones. It is an honoring of all the many ways that we can be well, and the radical and traditional ways in which we can steward health within ourselves. 

This song is a direct tribute to the people around the world who are holding and teaching these ways of herbal plant-based medicine, educating us all to know our gardens, our forests, our plants and our own bodies... to bring wellness back into our own hands and communities. It is not a dismissal of modern medicine, but a gratitude and honoring of its ancestry and foundations within folkloric traditions. 

This release comes on the New Moon after the Fall Equinox. As we are moving into a new season, a new time, and a new chapter, we offer this song as a ritual anthem for this transition and time of great change.

Wash It Away

"Wider Circles" is the newest album from Rising Appalachia. With influences of folk, soul, roots, world music, and poetry, the album showcases the alchemy of sibling harmonies paired with banjo and fiddle duets. The album was inspired by folk standards and traditional hymns, old mountain odes, and activist anthems that pull equally from the swampy sounds of the bayou, the twang of the Appalachian mountains, and the beat of a global rhythm.

Find Your Way

The seed of this song came to me whilst deep in dance at a sacred gathering in Australia. 
Words took shape as the images passed through my mind.

A poem. A prayer.

I saw the ice and the snow. The grey stones, white trees and the black soil of my roots. It was a gift, a medicine song to honour the passage between the worlds.

This is a VERY old song that was recorded around 2005 a couple years before Faces in the Rocks was recorded :). My dad gave me a day of recording live in his friends studio as a x-mas present, and I did 10 somewhat juvenile recordings that day...I wanted to share this funny ditty as some people have been asking me about old recordings lately...Love to you all I could not keep doing this (or trying to) without you! <3
