New forms of Arabic music started to rise during, and after the Arab Spring. It shifted from being songs, with lyrics praising political leaders or traditional love songs, to criticizing them, and addressing social and political issues. This podcast explores a brief political history of conflict areas in the middle east and the resulting alternative music from these areas. The aim is to share a different narrative of the Middle East, the narrative of music and peace.
