Awake in the Wild Meditation in Nature

This morning stillness meditation led by Mark Coleman uses mindfulness to calm the mind and connect with nature.

Guided Morning Stillness Meditation

This meditation is intended to be done in the presence of a tree.

Find a tree someplace where you will be undisturbed. If you don’t have a particular tree in mind, take a walk, and allow yourself to be called to a particular tree.

Stand in front of the tree and simply take it in with all your senses. Let go of any thoughts or labels like what kind of tree it is or how old it is. Allow your eyes to wander from the roots, to the trunk, branches, leaves, and canopy.

Interest will arise when you pay close attention to every detail, as if this were the first time you were seeing a tree.
