May 10th to 16th is Mental Health Awareness Week. 

This podcast to mark the week features interviews with members of staff from the University of Glasgow's Counselling and Psychological Services team. Our first interview features Soad Nasr, a clinical psychologist who counsels students needing support with their mental health during their studies to talk about the impact of the pandemic on student mental health and understanding our emotional responses to the past year.

Josie Peters, one of our Wellbeing advisors also joins us to talk about anxiety, how it's OK to feel anxious about life in post-lockdown and how you can cope with the transition back to a less isolated life.

-Bio-
Paul Campbell is a Principal Teacher (Curriculum and Assessment) at a large international primary school in Hong Kong. Prior to this, Paul taught in North Lanarkshire, East Renfrewshire, and internationally in Victoria, Australia, and Catalonia, Spain. Paul is at the end of the Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) programme at Glasgow, and is also Vice-Chair of the International Professional Development Association.

Willie McGuire, a Senior Lecturer in the School of Education, has recently been awarded Principal Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.  Listen as he discusses what this accolade means to him,  how to follow in his footsteps and his future aspirations.

There are four levels of Fellowship: Associate Fellow, Fellow, Senior Fellow and Principal Fellow. Globally, there are 142,143 Fellows, but only 1,344 Principal Fellows, which is a testament to the rarity of the award.

Willie is the first to be awarded this distinction in the School of Education and he is one of only a handful of Principal Fellows in the wider University. Willie commented on the fact that 'it was incredibly hard work over a long period, but very satisfying, when I finally achieved it'. He also thanked the colleagues who supported him throughout the journey from Senior to Principal.
