Maclean graciously spent a lot of time talking about me because he's so full of humilty, but it should be known that he's one of the most exploratory and narrative piano soloists I've ever encountered in Canada... and his poignant compositions are always forward-reaching and serve to evolve the artform of jazz. It's been an honor to mentor him over the years, but an even greater pleasure to play his hard-ass tunes, which has pushed me to being a better trumpet player. His vision is a unique one and absolutely worth investigating. I hope people will dig into our new release "Convergence" when it drops.
