One of the first songs I've ever written.  I shelved it because I didn't have the skills to do something meaningful with it.  So I waited until I got those skills... and yeah... I think it's a great song... and ended perfectly. But the song starts out with me singing like an old, tired man who has lost everything... including his "wife" leaving him for someone else.  He's broken.  And the ending.... is a rather cynical perspective on Life and Love... in general.

Less Is The Best Mess

An interesting story behind why I made this song.  A newfound friend was telling me the other day about his best friend dying 6 years ago, in what can only be described as "tragic".  His friend was a ridiculous guitarist, but there are only a handful of youtube videos of him playing in the weeks leading up to his passing.  So without even being asked, I told my friend that I could take the song he played and make something of it.  Throughout this entire song, Paul's guitar can be heard, and you can hear him talk to his son at the very end (the other video he had on youtube).  
I'm not sure if this the final version or not... time will tell.

When I started writing music "for reals", I promised myself that I would not "stay in one lane", and create music that is a reflection of myself... my tastes... 4 decades of listening.  I pull from the 80's & 90's, no doubt about it... that's my childhood and my teenage years - of course I'm influenced by those very distinct eras of music.  I have yet to talk to someone about how I'm keeping up to that promise, but then again, I can't name a single person that has listened to everything I've created.  

I'll help you out: This is as high as my voice can go, and is a little uncomfortable.  I don't use autotune or a lot of effects, but this is a far cry from my usual 2A#.... 2D# vocal tone.

I suffer from sleep paralysis... even at 41.  I was told I'd grow out of it.  I never did.  This song is my experience.  If you've never had this... good for you.  If you have... you should identify with this song.

Oh... I enjoy making songs like this.  I plan on doing more songs like this on several similar topics.  

The point here is simply: for being the smartest in the animal kingdom, we're the only ones on the planet that pay to live here.  In economics, we are taught that wealth is derived from "owning land".  And yeah... that's true.  And we all can't own land... maybe a 1/4 AC lot, but when I say land... I talking about the tax maps.  I'm talking about mineral rights.  I'm saying there's nothing normal about this.  There are monkeys that own more land (territory) than a greater part of the world's population... and those monkeys don't even wear pants.
