Jordi, aka Llupe, and Nico, aka DJ Aficionado, share quite a few things in common: Catalan origins, a love for all things Balearic, the same street in Berlin and shows on Refuge Worldwide. They both certainly appreciate a good party, too.

Organizing parties and playing together was a natural direction for them. Their party series, Orbita, launched earlier this year, aims to create ample space for quality adult dance music. It seems to be working well, as they’ve been fortunate to host guests like Apiento, Tom of England, and Sianza, to name a few.

This mix is a recording from the last Orbita party, held at Fitzroy on what many described as the last day of summer in Berlin. For those who remember, it was a dreamy and sensual Sunday, filled with music that sounded just right in that room. It felt nice and cosy and the dancers seemed to be momentarily free from any kind of Monday angst. Playful and light, yet seriously good. Feel the magic, times two.

For this Hunter’s Moon in Aries Soria has cooked up something seductive. Equal parts deep, bumping and dreamy, moving through ambient, house and dub techno, Soria's mix is inspired by the main character from "A Spy in the House of Love" by Anais Nin. Here the protagonist bathes at night in moonlight as one would in the sun, cultivating a power from its rays which pulls in and frightens the other characters around her. A reminder of the strength we have when we allow ourselves access to our own sensuality.

With today’s mix, we close the chapter on this year’s collaboration with Perpendicular Festival, where we teamed up to present some of the most inspiring and forward-thinking sets from artists like Eight Fold Way, 037, Javier Marimon, Sciama, and o.utlier. 
For the grand finale, we’ve saved something truly special: a live set from Valencia-based duo Pajaro Dune, composed of Jaime Romero (aka Estrato Aurora) and composer/pianist David Ortolà (aka d_o_ppelgaenger).
If you’ve followed Delayed, you’re likely already familiar with these two. Their partnership spans over two decades; in that time, they’ve refined a distinct musical dialogue. This particular set, performed on a Sunday around noon, struck the perfect tone for what followed. The interplay between broken, raw, and distorted 606 grooves, oscillating effortlessly from halftime to low-slung tempos around 100 BPM, paired with atmospheric synths, created a hypnotic and propulsive mood.
Romero and Ortolà have found a rare balance, where their sound feels both unbound and deeply rooted, ideal for those transitional, warm-up moments that shift a gathering into flow. This music makes you move like seaweed swaying beneath the surface in the dysphotic zone, where fleeting shafts of sunlight pierce the dark.

Next up comes a very special set recorded live at Bassiani/Horoom’s ten year anniversary in early October. Having made common cause with the club in its infancy, longtime resident Hamatsuki (Mamuka Tskhadaia) and Morevi Records key figure Skyra (Sandro Papaskiri) are a perfect vector for the club’s vision. These two homegrown talents are legends in their own right, and well versed in their musical skill, teaming up on occasion and getting people moving to the sound of their surging beats. The community built around them and their Georgian confrères has grown exponentially since casual beginnings on the ground in Tbilisi, and the timeless mark they’ve left on the soul of the city is testament to its creative spirit. From chilled-out releases to laid back sets, the duo have an innate feeling for the other that complements and sparks surprising new ideas, downtempo house that sounds as fresh today as it did back then. For Bassiani Podcast 235, the pair flex their well-trained muscle and deliver an hour of groovy and undulating sounds, unbent rhythms for the dancing class. Tbilisi energy to the letter. “Not sure if you remember the record label 'The Balearic Sounds of …' and they would select an artist and re-release their most “balearic” cuts. So like Lucio Battisti, Fleetwood Mac, Crosby Stills & Nash etc etc. Artists that might be considered “pop” or “rock” but have a few island time heaters stashed in the back catalogue. It really opened my eyes to the fact that balearic music is a vibe moreso than a genre. This mix is a little bit of that, and a lot of the fact that I’ve always wanted to do a soft, dad rock, strummy guitar mix. Got some new, some old, some ambient, some sing-a-long. Even ventures away from the beach aesthetic and more into the untapped balearic landscape of cattle farms and dusty bush roads. Probably sounds best with your feet up on your back verandah, fresh VB stubby in hand, admiring the handiwork you’ve just bestowed on your lawn. Maybe with the barbie warming up…”
