I wrote this song after watching the film Vertigo a few times. I was putting together an academic lesson, analyzing Bernard Herrmann's score for my boss, a film composer himself. I came home after work and started playing that riff, then started singing some lines about the relationship I was in. I was struck by Kim Novak's beauty, and somewhat empathized with the situation Scotty had found himself in. The song is about realizing you don't really know the person you are in love with.

Chop! is the passion project of Ben Provest and Ross Hodgkinson, roommates and collaborators. The band was formed during the 2020 Covid-19 lockdown, in which both members found themselves with more spare time on their hands given that live performances had been postponed for the foreseeable future. The band enjoys eating papaya, riding bikes, running half marathons, and creating uptempo 80's inspired jams. Stay tuned for their next single Hollywood Heartache coming August 28th.
