During lockdown 2020, Hanane.wav attempted to close the distance between their family by creating a soundbite that explored their culture and what better way to do that than with food. Whilst making the Tagine dish in their home, they cover themselves with the voices of family describing how they make a tagine. Tagine is a traditional North African dish with the recipe varying between families and regions. You are taken on a bit of a messy journey, but when is cooking ever tidy? Experience this solely for the purpose of joy and connectivity.

‘A Long Journey Ahead’ focuses on reimagining the landscapes in which a young man called Aziz ventures from a village in Marrakech in 1988 to fulfil his dream of reaching the city of London. This sound bite is an introduction to a 3 part series exploring the determination of a man from a background of poverty in search of a new beginning.

Her most recent project ‘A Long Journey Ahead’ was created in response to a lack of depth and scope of narratives exploring the people who often go unnoticed in society and is an attempt to celebrate the dreams, achievements and experiences of those people. 

hanane.wav is also known as a musician, performer and storyteller looking primarily at the experience of being from the MENA diaspora and the cultural fluidity of London.
