A warm welcome to Julien Minarro aka Waxist!

Julien is a Lyon based DJ, producer and co runs the SOL Discos reissue label along side Pascal Rioux (a la @favoriterec) 

I’ve been in touch with Julien for a while now and stoked that he agreed to do a mix for us. His Serendipity show on @lemellotron and Red Stripe Disco mixes have been a big source of inspiration for me over the years!

Waxist has turned out some killer disco edits on labels including Kalakuta Soul, @rainandshinerecords @culturesofsoul & @isleofjurarecords He’s also a dab hand at A&R and been involved in official reissues of some of the rarest disco records out there. His own label SOL Discos has put out 3x 45s and 2x LP comps, so go check those out.

This time Waxist delivers a fab 1 hour mix spanning some his favourite disco & house records!

Originally from the State of Mexico and with more than 7 years dedicated to music. Always creating amazing travels and different musical scenarios, with the smoothest house music vibe.

He began his career belonging to SNF (Saturday Night Funktions)and later on becoming one of the most beloved djs of House Salad Music.

The work of all these years has led him to sharing cabin with Andrew Emil, Wally Callerio, Jazzmopper, Hector Moralez, Yeshua Murillo, Arturo Garcés, Demarkus Lewis, Trevor Vichas.

He has his own series on House Salad Music called Seventh Night, where he show the finest & smooth sounds of house music.

This week’s Black Light Disco show that aired on New York’s My House Radio marks the start of something truly special for us. In what we hope will be the first of many, Black Light Disco is proud to present 'Samosa Funk' - a new monthly collaboration with two of the hottest labels on the planet right now – Italian based Samosa Records and Daje Funk Records. Samosa Funk will feature exclusive two-hour sets from label head honchos and super-talented producers and DJs in their own right, Stefano Gamma (aka De Gama) and Les Inferno - all under the Black Light Disco banner.

Samosa Records and Daje Funk are, to put it mildly, a vinyl junkie’s dream. Consistently releasing high-quality grooves (predominantly on wax but also on digital platforms), both labels excel at delivering a distinctive sound drawing from multiple genres ranging from disco, funk, jazz, soul and Afro beats. Co-owners De Gama and Les Inferno demonstrate an almost unparalleled knowledge of these genres in their own productions, always infusing their own unique take to turn undiscovered (or long forgotten) gems into dance floor bombs or dreamy, high soaring journeys into the disco / funk stratosphere. Luminaries such as Al Kent, Hotmood, Lego Edit, Moodena, Sartorial, C. Da Afro, Fingerman, Sleazy McQueen and Massimo Berardi have added to a star-studded roster of producers and artists to embrace the Samosa Records and Daje Funk philosophy.

Here at Black Light Disco we are truly delighted to have these two exceptionally talented cookies team up with us for a monthly show on the biggest house music FM radio station in the world, New York’s MyHouseRadio.FM

It's safe to say that this mix has been a long time in the planning. Delfonic is an outstanding producer who were a BIG fans of at LV online. His productions are exciting and dancefloor shaking and as a DJ he is right up there with the absolute best out there. Originally we had planned this mix to go with the release of his brilliant Edits EP on Nomada, only problem was it was so hot that it soul out pretty much immediately so with a repress in the pipeline we decided to hold back. Well now it's out and back on the shelves and we are very pleased to invite Delfonic to our Disco Selectors series. We have a full interview incoming on Monday but in the meantime we had a quick chat with Delfonic about the mix check it out here:
