This was written for the brilliant-minded Ana Brinzila who was taken away from us far too soon. 
I am glad she got to hear it before cancer made an abrupt end to her young life. Her fate and encouragement is enough for me to keep on keeping on - life is a fragile thing

Simple Goodbye

Just after the start of the Ukraine war I received a text from my then very ill colleague saying that they are 'deteriorating fast'. This line on the backdrop of a world falling apart completely haunted me and still does to  this date. It's those moments when you feel lost like a child in your adult life and just want to wish it away but you can't and it s suffocating.

I love Marc Almond, anything Marc Almond from Soft Cell over the Mambas to his solo work. When I was lucky enough to see him for the anniversary of Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret, one of my favourites, 'Bedsitter' was played and I thought how amazingly fresh it still sounds after 40 years and also that despite the synths, it's such an aggressive song with the despair and defiant tone. So I thought I wanted to make a little punkier version of this and it was a lot of fun to learn and record.
