Idea: Late night thoughts, to be familiar with the dark, overthinking

Differentiation factor: 
I decided to use minor seven chords as they felt little comforting, a little dark, something suitable for late night thoughts whenever I can’t sleep. They are also, by default, associated with sadness. However, I’m using them as a gate (that can’t be closed properly) to chaos, starting the track with the contemplative pleasantries then a mess.

Summary: Overthinking causes a lot of mental stress and even if it is seemingly over, it never is, especially when there’s no help at all

Delivery:
Late night thoughts are often negative and reflective, and I wanted this piece to bring out that idea. The feeling of paranoia in the middle of the night but you can’t sound it out because everyone’s asleep. 

So my character kind of takes comfort in the dark, because no one can see them hurt. But for them, at night, the mind is active and all sorts of thoughts come rushing to the head, both good and negative, till the point it got so irritating, the character screamed for their thoughts to just “Let me sleep!”. The clock continues to tick silently in the background, showing that time is still moving at the character had used so much time to try sleeping but they can’t. With all the loud thoughts running, the ticking can hardly be heard. What initially kept them awake could be nice but what could have driven them to want sleep could be the negative thoughts that dominated the positive ones but even then, when silence do return, it doesn’t mean that they’re asleep because they could still hear the clock ticking.

Thus the track would be intially nice sounding to signify little/nice thoughts then slowly shifts into chaos as more thoughts and ideas “flooded the head”. The bells are at first major, then as it descends to lead, the scales become minor scales, even though they are not very obvious as of then. Later, the track becomes more and more packed and heavy. There is a lot of white noise used and other occasional instruments popping up here and there to cause discomfort and the increasing annoyance that will abruptly stop later. A voice later will cease all sounds to signify only temporary relief. It is slightly also distorted because the character is mentally screaming but they cannot get anything out. To show that the thoughts continue, and that relief was only for a moment, the white noise from earlier will restart again but softer to show mild distress in the supposed pleasant mood.

Delivery: 

Once a sculptor had an idea
To create a woman 
In the image of a goddess
(Here, I added the sound of bells to represent the sparking of ideas)

So he would carve each day
Chip by chip (Here, I added the 'tak tak' sound, to represnt the chipping of the material)
His vision could not be seen and
Soon his patience grew thin (Here, I added strings played at the same time to show tension within himself)

Finally, the chunk of ivory took shape
"this beauty that sins" he said.

it shone so silently
He lost his sleep
but nonetheless
It felt complete
(Gradually, the white noise’s cutoff point increase then gets cut off here to fill the “silence”, even though there are one note background sounds in place)

it was only a matter of time 
till people complimented his work
But he found dissatisfaction 
In the woman he created (From this paragraph on, the warao scale is used to help show some sort of despair in finding perfection. Bells that didn’t fit the scale was used too to show conflict.)

He stared at his masterpiece
Wondered of ways to improve it
But slowly he saw the reason
And the beauty within

he was reminded of why he made the loveliest girl
so he loved her more than anyone could envision

He stepped into the temple
Desperately Praying that she lives 
This beauty that he treasured 
And hoped to see existing (Strings are used here because they have a deep and thick fill, including a disturb sculpture patch makes the part feel more desperate)

Alive and breathing in his sleep
he wished she wasn't a fantasy

(I paused here to give a switch in scene)

Thrice did the altar burn
The orange flames licking his offerings
He took that as a sign
And hastened home in strides

A woman graced his living room
With features of whom he crafted
gone was the endless gloom 
n happiness came after

With his hands in the air
He praised the Gods and
Sung Merriment to them

He blessed the Goddess of Love
For granting his wish of
The woman he could finally love


Summary: This is the watered down version of the myth of Pygmalion

Differentiation factor:
I wanted the music to change according to the paragraphs, to seemingly show that the scenes have changed while keeping the same track running. I wanted it to feel as if they are different tracks even though they are under the same bridge. 

I used the warao scale as it sounded right for that part when he began to question himself about the point of his work, then desperation when he finds it. While doing this, I’m also keeping in mind that the music cannot be overbearing and overly distracting as the reader is the “main melody” of the piece.

The idea is about how being alone can cause many thoughts in the brain, hence a lot of melody lines, repeated motifs and pads. So after the character leaves the subway, the music comes in in semblance of their thoughts over a rather busy street and drowns out the noise with simply their thoughts. But the noise was too unbearable so they left the place (the die down).

It's about Pirates and Sirens. The idea is a ship of pirates set sail, and then they encounter sirens.

The Locked Door Opens

The process of the song's making made me smile. I wasn't looking at this at a very wide angle, I just made this just for fun! Because doing what we think is fun ultimately makes us smile. I hope I can put a smile on people's face too, when they listen to this. It's supposed to sound fun. I had fun with all the voices used inside.

(Personally, I thought this was cute XD Like a child making music)

Make Me Smile

The story idea was that the girl has never seen the sun before, then when she draws the curtain, it's a different view. But I made this track based on the darkness. The curtains drawn is signified by the change of tone in the end.
