Clint Eastwood was Gorillaz' first proper single. A huge smash initially in the UK, where it remained in the charts for months and the top 10 for weeks. At around the same time radio in Europe also went mad for the song. Slightly later in 2001 the song would also become a massive radio hit in the US and central and South America. Bigger than his previous smash, Song 2 (with Blur), this song remains Damon Albarn's biggest hit. In the UK the Ed Case Refix (available on all formats) actually got far more airplay than the A-side, probably resulting in the inclusion of said remix on the debut LP. B-side Dracula was probably the best of the off cuts from the 'Gorillaz' sessions, and tour rap group Phi Life Cypher also contributed a version.

Feel Good Inc. is a single featured as the sixth track on the 2005 album Demon Days.

"Feel Good Inc." charted high in most European countries (including an at-the-time career best of #2 in England, accompanied by a chart run to rival Clint Eastwood's 4 years before). In the US, aided by an iPod commercial featuring the song, and presence on the latest successful "Now" compilation, "Feel Good Inc." took Gorillaz to a whole new level - the track peaked just outside the top 10 in the Billboard Top 100, and it was also top of the Modern Rock charts for a 3 week spell. In the UK, due to a loophole in the chart rules, Feel Good Inc was able to enter the charts before its official release because the record company released 300 copies of the 7-inch single format, meaning that legal downloads would count towards a chart placing for the single ( this was because, according to UK chart rules at that time, a single could only chart if a physical format was available, although download sales contributed to chart placings). A total of 4 new and original songs were available across formats, although "Murdoc is God" was only included on the Japanese CD. The feel of the B-sides was more free and experimental than that of those that had appeared on 'Demon Days' - showcasing another side to the Gorillaz sound. Also, "Feel Good Inc." makes an appearance in Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party 3 on Wii And Grand Theft Auto 5 On Xbox One, Playstaion 4 And PC Versions.

Berlin producer Robot Koch is back for his third full length release, “The Other Side”.

Although Robot Koch has an international reputation as being "One of Europe`s finest producers of the beat generation" (Low End Theory), he is much more than just a beatmaker… “(Post)-dubstep infused Electronic Hip Hop“ is far too constrained a label to understand what this producer is all about. Instead of following the sound of his previous albums “Death Star Droid” ("Essential listening" - Bobby Friction BBC) and “Songs For Trees and Cyborgs“ ("Music for a modern age that has rarely sounded so good” - Boomkat), Koch takes the genre defying ingredients from these previous records to another level. There still are some of those “Galactic ten ton beats and space age melodies“ (Dazed and Confused) that made the previous albums staple drops in the playlists of Mary Anne Hobbs, Starkey, Daedelus and Gaslamp Killer to name a few, but there is a new dimension to Koch`s production and songwriting that didn’t show on his previous records.

The cinematic vibe of tracks like “Nitesky”, the quirky and moody feel of “Bugs” and the electricity of “Tapedeck” show how Koch more than ever manages to create intimate and timeless pieces of music that are soulful, deep, mysterious and that will appeal to fans of cutting edge Electronica and modern pop music alike. This is the most personal record of Robot Koch to date. Instead of going for big name features Koch teamed up with lesser know artists like Kansas based vocal talent John LaMonica, long time friend and theatre composer Nielson and mexican singer/songwriter Graciela Maria to find the right voices for his compositions. John LaMonica infuses his whimsical and heartfelt melodies that breathe an air of darkness and nostalgia with Koch`s fresh and forward thinking instrumentals to create something that fans of Radiohead, The XX and Jamie Lidell should not sleep on.

”I`m glad John contacted me, we were thinking of collaborating on one song for my album but it ended up being five songs, they were all fantastic and helped me find the right direction for ‘The Other Side’.”

After the release of the John Robinson collaboration album (“Robot Robinson” – Project Mooncircle) earlier this year, it seems surprising how extensive Robert’s output is, but don’t be mistaken, this album is a longer term project than just releasing the songs Koch made in the last year. Some of the songs found on “The Other Side” were made seven years ago.

”I didn’t know what to do with songs like ‘Bugs’ back then. Now it felt like the time has come to release them, they just made sense with of the most recent stuff I’ve been making and it all fell into place. But it was not an easy album for me to make. The previous albums just came together rather quick but this one was a real mission, something I’ve been trying to do for years and I could never really get it together until now.”

Legendary John Peel (BBC) knew in 2003 already when he said about Koch`s productions "Wonderful and strange, pop music from the future“.

Notes

Out For A Stroll is a song for sunny days. 

After having a right old moan about internal & external ailments for two songs, escapism is the order of the hour to keep the head up and keep on keeping on. The music for this was written during the months I spent scrounging from the government for money to buy weed & beer, spending weekdays kicking a football about with mates or just pottering about in a smokey bubble. When I picked up my guitar, I didn't want to write a song that externalised my problems, I wanted to write a song that I could ride my bike really fast to. 

Of course, throughout this period I was obviously being a cunt with a skewed moral compass - that money is there for the people who need it, not for spunky little shits with no desire to do anything with the day. But I didn't give a toss. I was getting my hands on whatever I could to help my escapism, running full speed ahead in the other direction of my disillusionment with work, the contradictory Sportswear Punk identity crisis and general lack of purpose that 19 year old me felt. 

Our generation is a leisure-loving one, we live for those sunny days, for festive wandering and midnight pondering. The idea of Sportswear Punk is all about the good & the bad, the light & the dark, in a constant cycle. Here I wanted to grab the light at its brightest. There's nothing profound to be said in this song. It's not heading in any particular direction, it's just popping out for a stroll.
