‘Vicissitude’, the debut EP from Los Angeles-based producer Lag Switch, to be released on Parisian label Abîme, is a record that tells the story of light and dark in which those two collide within a single entity.

On one side, there is the harrowing sound design, the monstrous textures and the overall lugubrious ambiance throughout the record. It depicts the bleak existence of a solitary creature, repulsive yet confused, steadily dragging itself through a barren wasteland leaving pain and suffering in its wake.

As the name of the record suggests, its other side is infused with hopeful and scaterred chords progressions paired with elegant motifs. While obscured by a thick layer of dark, desperate matter, a powerful light seeks tries to bring order to the underlying chaos.

When taking a closer look and immersing oneself in Vicissitude, the apparent contradiction between those two fades away, and we’re let with a brilliant depiction of one’s humanity’s oldest story. The creature, despite its unrestrained nature, reaches a benevolent understanding of itself and blurs light and dark into a visceral manifestation of hope as the record concludes.

We've written an alternate conceptual version of the EP, available as a hand assembled physical release. It follows the journey of a protagonist navigating through our problematic age of relentless self scrutiny and desire for perfection.

The finale 'Dysmorphia’ (Featuring Fauness) has an accompanying video we directed, produced and edited ourselves and is a brief encapsulation of the EPs themes of metamorphosis.

Mya Gomez, Artista Chicana explora su creatividad sonoro inspirándose en los paralelos en vivir donde la lleva su vida, el amor y desamor, y paisajes que lleva en su corazón. Su trabajo la ha llevado a tocar y exponer en CDMX, Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne, Querétaro, Berlín, Los Ángeles, Nueva York, La República Checa y Estocolmo. Su trabajo ha estado presentado en la Compilación de PAN “Mono no Aware”, Non Records EP “Inmate”, Compilación de Euphonic Rhythms y ahora Antimateria Sonora. 

Artista Visual: Alberto Urias - BOFKID

Soy Alberto Urias, BOFKID. Nacido en Sinaloa, con exportación casi inmediata a Tijuana, Baja California. Desde chico se interesó por el graffiti, jugando con líneas y manchas. De graffitero a diseñador, de piloto de drones a pintar muros y mezclando loops de video en tiempo real. Como vj ha colaborado con Designer drugs, Kill the Noize, Le Castlevania, Shinichi Osawa, Harvard Bass, Stereoliez, Acid Girls, entre otros, parte visual de las noches goticas de CHOLOGOTH NIGHT X Dave Parley ( Prayers ) y VJ de Cumbia Cartel. Larga vida a las noches con compus fallando en directo y metros de cable por guardar. 
 
La historia del video ocurre en “La Rumorosa” que es una carretera asombrosa, una jungla de grandes piedras y habitan animales que pocas veces se dejan ver. El trayecto es una locura, muchas sensaciones corporales y mentales, siempre imaginando que se levantaran gigantes de piedra o la sensación de los oídos tapados por la altura que se alcanza al recorrer esa majestuosa carretera para conectar Tijuana con Mexicali y el resto del país.
