BYRRS is a tribute to the Birs river. Playfully light and sweet along the banks, heavy and mysteriously alive in its depths. Cold and clear, steadily pulsing in the eternal cycle of nature. Much love!

BYRRS was created in April 2024 during a live session at Studio 42, Winterthur. It was recorded using a Modular Synthesizer, Electronic Tanpura, and Roland Space Echo RE-201 on a Tascam 38 Eight-Track Tape Recorder. Analog mixing and mastering were done with a Studer 962 14/4 Analog Mixing Console.

q) where are you located and which places do you like to go there?
a) I live in basel. I like to walk along the harbor basin and watch the ships. For a drink I go to Pimento’s, a nice portuguese restaurant/bar.

q) do you remember what music inspired you when you made the mix?
a) I am inspired by unique sound aesthetics where you get the feeling of understanding the room or the scene in which the music takes place. I recorded this mix with music that means a lot to me but that I almost never get to play.

q) which projects are you involved in?
a) snippet festival (audio-feature festival), wumsi club (community dancefloor), bodywarmer (record label, wip), lazy dance bar (open-studio radioshow), subnet realm (artist duo)

q) what else is important to you in life besides music?
a) people, friends, family, all forms of art and culture, politics, dogs if they don’t bark at me.

q) last question. what do you like to eat or drink?

"Heron is an ambient musician from Melbourne, Australia. Ambient music was something Heron discovered after spending a lot of time in Tokyo, Japan, and Heron's style derives a lot from Kankyo Ongaku, which means environmental music in Japanese. Heron loves including sounds from the surroundings and field recordings in the music, as it goes hand in hand with creating immersive soundscapes and journeys through specific places or environments.
This specific EP is a summation of Heron's experiences over the last few years of traveling around Europe, Latin America, and of course, from Heron's home in Melbourne. It offers a snapshot of the different environments and biomes encountered during these explorations—ones that left a lasting impression.
The point of this album is to express that it doesn't matter where you are in the world—every natural place is beautiful and carries its own unique sound and atmosphere."
