This version of Louie Louie was done by Iggy Pop in 1993. The song was originally written by Richard Berry in the 50s.

This is an original blues tune called Epiphany Blues played on electric guitar this time. I like the sound of this guitar so I thought I'd share one of it's recordings. Hope you enjoy!

Epiphany Blues (electrified original)

Another blues in E! This song is from a recent recording of a rehearsal. I thought it sounded good so I thought I would upload it. I knew it as a George Thorogood song in the 80s but it was actually written by country singer Hank Snow in the 50s.

Hank Snow was played by Aussie actor David Wenham in the Elvis movie. The movie shows Elvis and Snow touring together early in Elvis's career.

There's also a cover of I'm Movin On on Van Morrison's latest album which is called Moving on Skiffle.

This is a new instrumental original. I think it has a folky classical feel to it.

Autumn Vineyard (original)

An old folk song written by Blind Alfred Reed. There have been some famous cover versions by artists like Ry Cooder and Bruce Springsteen. I think my acoustic version is closest to Ry Cooder's though obviously not in the same stratosphere when it comes to ability.

You Can't Take It With You (by Paul Kelly)

The Irish Rover is a traditional Irish folk song. The first rendition I heard was from the 80s by the Pogues and the Dubliners, in the folk punk style of the Pogues. I think my rendition is a bit more folk and a bit less punk than the Pogues. The Pogues also have a famous Christmas song though it's not this one.

My rendition is quite different to ZZ Top's original. My rendition is based on a live cover version from a blues band I used to watch back in the 80s. It's more upbeat and it also includes a verse from Talk to Your Daughter by JB Lenoir/John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers.

This is the third tune I have done by Aussie punk / post punk / cowpunk pioneers the Saints. I didn't plan it that way but I thought the recordings sounded OK so I shared. The Saints are one of my favourite bands since back in the 80s so I guess it's not surprising. Hope you enjoy!

I have been a fan of U2 for a long time and I had Rattle and Hum on cassette back in the 80s. However, for some reason I didn't know that Bob Dylan co-wrote this song and only found out recently. I sang the words on memory and ad libbed a bit so they may not be 100% accurate. Hope you enjoy!

I decided to re-release this standard as I wanted to see if I could pep it up a bit. My version is based on the Blues Brothers version.

Sweet Home Chicago - reprise (by the Blues Brothers, written by Robert Johnson)

This is a fun tune by the Smiths from their 1986 classic album The Queen Is Dead. I thought the nylon string worked well on this one because the Smiths always had a lovely crisp clean sound. Hope you enjoy Morrissey's funny lyrics!

This is another fun toon which I hope will get you boppin a bit. It's some tongue in cheek rock n roll / cowpunk relationship counselling from legendary Aussie band the Beasts of Bourbon. Written by guitarist Kim Salmon.

I used my new parlour guitar to play this one. I was quite happy with the jangly chords which I think really suit the tune.

There have been a number of excellent ballad versions of this classic. I have tried to take it back to its rootsy roots. I feel like Leonard Cohen's original would have been at home in a seedy jazz blues bar. Hope you enjoy!

Another classic by one of my favourite bands U2. I like the message of this one and I thought it worked OK on acoustic so added it to my repertoire. This is a recording of a live rehearsal. Hope you like it!

This here is a little ditty I wrote last year. I thought it sounded a bit cowpunk so I gave it the unimaginative name Cowpunk 24. I played around with sounds and ended up playing my acoustic electric through my Vox amp with maximum flanger. Yeeharrrr!

It's been a while since I put out a jazz tune so I decided to put out this standard by Gershwin played on my nylon string. I had a look at a few different examples of sheet music for this one. Interestingly there seem to be quite a few variations of the chords. One of the beauties of jazz! I used the chords in a cool old songbook I bought at a garage sale. The tune was written in the 1930s so I reckon the songbook is as old as 1940s.

An old song I wrote back in the 90s with a rock n roll band I was in at the time. It has a kinda cowpunk vibe which was popular in Australia at the time. It's a kind of tried and true western story told in many western films lol. 

Originally, played with the band, it was a rock n roll tune bordering on hard rock. Played acoustically, I think it comes out a little bit country.

Solo acoustic rock n roll! 🎸🎤

I am a solo guitarist mainly playing acoustically. I am a rock n roller with folk, country, blues, jazz and classical influences. It could be summed up as cowpunk.

I have written two songs, Mexico and Solution, and have also written a number of instrumentals. As I don't have many songs of my own, I like to learn to play standards so I have developed a bit of a repertoire.
