For a long time now I have wanted to write a song that would be an encouragement to preachers. While riding in my car one day, this is what came to me. I hope it can be an encouragement to those who are called to preach His word, and to those who love the gospel.  This is an updated version from the one that was previously on this channel.  I rerecorded it and vocals come together better.   I hope everyone enjoys it!

That night he had a vision of a ladder heaven bound 
With angels ascending and angels coming down

He said this is none other than the house of God

I have searched this whole world over but there’s no place I’ve found
That’s any bit as pleasant as where God comes down 

One night a country preacher showed me the way so clear
He gave the invitation and heaven seemed so near 
He said the way is simple, it's narrow and it's straight 
And the only way to make it is enter at the gate

Mighty Good Way

I started on this journey many years ago 
At an old fashioned altar where I called upon the Lord 
In spite of my shortcomings and though I have my faults 
The lord has always been there to guide me along 

It's a way that's led me through many dark valleys
It's a way that's led me up many bright hills 
And when I reach my destination I know that I can say 
Through all the ups and downs it's a mighty good way 

I have seen the Lord deliver a soul that's filled with strife 
When He reaches down and gives eternal life 
I have seen the hand of death come knocking at friend’s doors
But angels came from glory to carry them safe o'er

It's a way that's led me through many dark valleys

Mighty Good Way - Aaron Jones Gospel Music

This is a song I wrote back in 2012 after reading a southern gospel music blog where the writer listed out several bible characters about whom he'd never heard a song.  One of those on the list was Ezra, which had me studying in Nehemiah and Ezra.  There wasn't anything musical that struck me in that study, but it did lead me to this story about King Josiah.  And I could never recall hearing a song about this story either, so I was blessed to write it.

The priest came in to King Josiah 
And said we've found a book
That was buried down deep in the temple
We think you should take a look
When God's word was read King Josiah said 
Oh look how far we've strayed 
But if we will turn back to the Lord 
The judgement may be stayed

So gather all the people
To hear God's holy word
That was handed down to us through generations
So his way would be preserved
If we will turn back to our God
And not the ways of man
The Lord will hear from up in heaven 
And He will heal our land

Today it seems that everyone's searching
For ways they can be justified
Forsaking the Word and old cross of Calvary 
For new ways that haven't been tried 
But if we will turn back and ask for the old path 
And choose to walk therein
