Happy 4/20!!! Yeah, we've been gone and I guess some people may have mistaken that for dead, but we are far from that. Gateway VII is alive and kicking like a newborn out the womb. This is a special offering in a special homage to the years of past Gateways' with the release of the project normally coming annually on this day to celebrate our favorite day of the year. I want to continue that tradition with these releases to pump everyone up for the exciting future of Gateway and the city of Indianapolis' music scene as we grow and evolve together. The number 7 is the number of transformation and for the new to thrive pieces of the past must take their place there. From this point forward, Gateway will be moving more towards becoming a digital and physical hub and our first step will be changing the concept of the releases. This project is the beginning of a living, breathing playlist that will constantly grow and exhibit musical talent from Indy's Hip Hop scene and more. Love, Peace, and Marijuana, Good People. Love.

"Dave Chappelle" is the third offering from the Gateway VII playlist and features an onslaught of talent as the record is led off by Danjah's H.O.M.3 (who also engineered the record) and this strong, catchy hook centered around the funny way people choose to move for or when a little bit of money is presented and true intentions are exposed. This is followed up by strong verses from the super versatile rapper/producer, Malik Zee, and the ever talented, Wenyunwant, to round out the super slept on Indy group. Deaux Slim drops a bomb to finish out the record with each bar perfectly complimenting the next as he speaks on his reasons for being cocky and continues to prove he's a force to be reckoned with in his own right.

Master Sensai, Super Smash Bros. Champ, Ruler of the afro pick, and Naptown soul producer, Harry Otaku provides a silky landscape that flows like butter over toasted bread. Who better than the slick spitter himself, Kid, to pop things off on this one setting the tone for one of the smoother records on the playlist. We think of fresh polished wood and cigar smoke with fresh pool tables. Add in the flow juggling veteran, Peteyboy, who dances on the beat and comets on this one and the effortless ending chorus from hook master, Aares, and one would think this should be on the latest NBA 2K. Does anyone hear those chops by James Oak or is it just us who's amazed?

"Rule The World" marks the fifth offering from the Gateway VII playlist and the melting pot more than boiled over with this collaboration! Heavy Hitting beatmaker, TYJUANONTHEBEAT, provides an amazing slap happy go getting backdrop that would inspire even the laziest of souls to get up and swing a broom back in forth in the name of the house that 808s and dangerous kicks have built. Flow craftsman, DisTinct, comes out the gate swinging upbeat and silky with the right amount of braggadocio to correct any naysayers that may have been misinformed on the glow and continues to drive the point home a hook to deliver the point. Not to be upstaged, Naptown's Hometown Hero, Skypp delivers one of his many exceptional features over beats he literally skipped and pranced on for the fun of the sport and providing one of the collaborations the city of Indianapolis may not have known they needed but did.

The 6th offering from the Gateway VII playlist flies out the sky with fury and will be sure to charge up any function from now til forever. The production is provided by Indianapolis' own hit song and beat architect, marijuana enthusiast, and incredibly underrated philosopher, Soze, who literally takes this one to the skies if you listen closely. Them Water Wave Whippin Boys aka New Wave Collective put their power rings together to make one of the more fun, youthful, and somehow club ready records to hit the soundwaves. Add in the incredibly crazy ride that otherworldly musical engineer, James Oak, brings and we're up there!

We Up (feat. New Wave Collective)

Back in the place to be like we never left after a short stint for the holidays getting way too full off of various mac and cheese dishes and an overload of laughter and enjoyment, it's time to roll out the next batch of instant Gateway classics. The foundation of the record is an incredible drum friendly, upbeat landscape provided by none other than LOVE2HATEU always pushing the envelope of innovation and creating something vibey. Led off by Indianapolis wordsmith and the Cutest Rapper Alive, Heyzeus, who cleverly spins a tale of his two latest women and the worries that come with them meeting up followed by two very noteworthy verses from Ali Bucket's Midas' touch and Aares ending out the record informing the ladies' that he's no one's peon or dummy. Very essential gems.
