A deeply meditative interpretation of our planet as a living organism, with its pulse, breath, rhythms and cycles. In the Key of Earth is my interpretation of the primordial, says de Muynck, when the sounds and harmonics of creation became musical.

All acoustic sounds were created specifically for this recording. Many of the tones heard are "unstuck" tones (overtones and harmonics) which are featured compositional elements. All instruments were played live to the fundamental track of the drone/pulse. No synthesized, sampled, or pre-recorded sounds were used.

On Vibrational Healing Music, composer de Muynck takes you on a therapeutic journey in her signature tuning of Ohm, known for its ability to soothe, balance, and rejuvenate. Here she organically combines ambient sounds of the earth, from the healing drone of honey bees to the syncopated rhythms of crickets and cicadas.

Vibration characterizes all life forms. The vibrational rate or frequency at which every life form resonates is what gives it its own unique personality. On Vibrational Healing Music, I express this fundamental tone through the use of acoustic instruments and field recordings. No synthesized sounds have been used. The elliptical and vibrational nature of this drone is key to this recording; it is the mesmerizing sound wave of a world in harmony with the wider cosmos. 

The familiar theme underlying this album comes from the Largo movement of Antonin Dvoraks’s Symphony No. 9 (From the New World), chosen for its spaciousness, familiarity and beauty, and for its ability to conjure the vastness and splendor of the American landscape.

Marjorie de Muynck (1952-2011), was a multi-instrumentalist, composer and author of two textbooks on the subject of Sound Healing. She pioneered four Sound Healing compositions in the key of Ohm—an alternative tuning not found on the piano keyboard. De Muynck’s pioneering works have inspired a generation of musicians to explore the healing resonance of a tone associated with the earth.
