Arrival On Orion

Seagull was kind enough to share a childhood memory with me of fishing boats with old spark plug engines, the scent of the sea, the sound of gulls looking for a meal, all of which he had put into a lovely musical portrait.  It is a different world compared to the childhood I had growing up in suburban Denver, Colorado.  Now with us both in our later years we get to meet on this wonderful platform called Soundcloud, and I asked if I could tag along with him as he shared this lovely memory. This song started as Polish friend Kuba's stem of his guitar and bass. I added mandolin, organ, and slide. I almost added vocals, as I came up with a prayer to Poseidon (I figure who better fit a surfer to pray to?), but I decided to let the melody just come through on the various instruments. Kuba just changed his name on here from 380 Librarians to Dr Stavros Magic Band, and again to My Name it is Noting. But if you haven't checked him out yet, he has tons of really cool music on his page. I'm very lucky he decided to share this one with me. We hope you enjoy it.

This is a song created by the very talented and revered Karin-Maria Brunner, to which she was kind enough to ask me to contribute. She sent me the beat, the bass line, and the chords and said, "verrückt werden!" So nuts I did go! She wanted something that on which I used a synthesizer, of which I loved the idea. 
  The song appears on her album Synthastic, which also includes some other really top ace musicians, including some of my personal favorites, like Frans Beelaard. Thus, I'm very honored and proud to not only be among musicians of that ilk, but to have been asked by Karin-Maria to participate in the first place. 
  You can find my other song, Magic Hour, along with those of the other seven collaborators among the other seventeen songs on the album on literally every streaming service available. So, next time you're listening somewhere other than the Cloud, please take at least a few minutes and check it out. Better yet, put it on your headphones next time you play your favorite video game!

A song about the discrepancy between the idealization of a distorted individualism, constantly conveyed by contemporary mass media, and the actual standardization, or globalization, of human behaviours and actions that can be found today in Western or Westernized societies…

In loving memory of Massimo De Gasperi (1967-1999), a great musician and friend. There's currently no trace of his work on the internet, unfortunately, but he'd published an album with a German label a few months before passing away, if I remember correctly. It sounded way ahead of his time, and it still does today. I own a copy of it, but I'm not entitled to share it. I hope someone will do, someday.
He once called me while he was working on his album. One of his numbers' title was "Dead Hendrix", and he asked me if I could supply him with any recorded announcement of Jimi's death. He was planning to extrapolate a few words from it and use the samples on his track. Sadly I couldn't satisfy his request. I used to own dozens of Hendrix LPs and tapes, always loved and played his music, but I'd never been a collector. At the time, things like that couldn't be found on the internet.

In November 2019, a common friend asked me to join Massimo's 20th death anniversary party: "Come over and play", he said... I had to laugh, because he hadn't considered the fact that I was nearly 1000 miles away from home, and couldn't really afford to travel exclusively to join that party. So I recorded this tune, "That's Mean", very quickly, and about a week later I sent him the file. I easily found that Hendrix death announcement on YouTube, sampled a couple of sentences and used them in this song. He was so happy with it, included it in the music set for the night and told me that Massimo was very likely smiling from heaven while listening to it. I really hope this tune will make you all smile too.
