A long time coming, this song was the most complex of our released catalogue to write and record. We’re always trying to one-up ourselves and we think this tune does the trick. “Samsorrow” - our fifth single - is here! We poured a lot into this track and hope it shows [see below for background on the song]. Feel free to download from link in bio and know we’re hard at work writing and recording to share more music and, most excitingly, rehearsing for that hopefully not too distant point in the future when life resumes some semblance of normalcy resumes and we can play some shows! (anyone remember those?)

The first iteration of Samsorrow was first written in 2015 by Justin (Frizzy) and recorded that same year, purely as an instrumental. From that point on, it went through surprisingly minimal changes. Certain breaks, extensions, and transitions were refined. The “mellow bridge” in the middle/end of the tune changed quite a bit. But overall, it kept its original bones (credit to the always ahead-of-his-time-writing of Justin). Fast forward to our vocalist Andrew entering the picture a couple years ago, when things really got rolling. As Andrew helped write and workshop the song, he breathed life into the work. Up until that point, the instrumental Samsorrow was big and bold but Justin and Chris had no idea the scope it could take on until Andrew’s vocals were brainstormed, written, and tracked. Those first jams on Samsorrow with Andrew crystallized what the song could be. It got bigger, bolder, grander. But, of course, the track underwent changes, notes, revisions, etc. to get every part working to where it is today. This is all to say, most good things take time. Some stuff can come together quickly - impulsive, organic and beautiful. Some, like Samsorrow, need a little more water, sunlight, and time to grow. “All that doesn’t grow, doesn’t need any sunlight; gets buried down below, like the pain we leave it all behind…”
