× The humans fleeing in fear of it, left the two children alone, defenseless.
× The Prince, filled with guilt, used his new powers to give the beast one single command.
× One that would define the fates of many.


× No one was allowed in, and no one was allowed out.

× Then, he was met with his family, who had spent years waiting for him to come back, with an opening to his home.
× He did not have much time, so he gave up his own life.
× To give his Best Friend a second chance in life.

× And have happiness.

× But with that, he was gone.

The two main stories told in the original game are switched, resulting in you first hearing of a children's folklore.

inspirations are mostly just Before The Story, Possibly Respite (briefly), Track 71, and Good Morning.

for the moment, I'll give you a few pieces on our protagonist.
it's not Frisk.
unfortunately. you just missed them, hahaha!
instead you get Robyn, Savior of Stamina (the Purple Inner Light)
They're what is effectively a crackhead in terms of personality.
they like to read and write a lot, and they find themselves inclined to sit in the most dangerous and weirdest places- I'm talking like in terms of the type of person who would sit on the couches back area like it's the seat of the couch, rather than actually sit on the couch normally.

other than that, they basically ended up in this other realm because well they were reading up on the folklore mentioned in the previous track to this, something broke the tree they like to hang out on, causing them to fall into water below, washing them through a mysterious portal at the bottom of the mountain-

long story short they passed through a veil near death, and are now here.
they're taking it pretty well though, considering to them it means they might be able to get some interesting information for a story to write!

please do be careful with them though.

having an identity is important, just as much as having fun.

uses style of Before The Story, but uses Soul Sections from Your Best Nightmare as a motif.

note this is only the first part.
no idea how this will affect minutes on this account going forward, but it should be fine ;3

also the thumbnail is temporary
technically the character lineup that showed up during the anniversary concert swaps with the menu where characters appear in overworld form
effectively it's just more detailed and you get dialogue as the characters slowly gather around and watch you, rooting you on or commenting about your story from the future tense(?)

meet Cherub. a... well nobody knows what they are. but they strongly prefer the term monster.
not many people have spoken to them, as they do not often venture outside the Old Mines.
but they are often spoken of respectfully, for the fact that they have a well-mannered personality, and seem to have a vast education on not just monster history, but human history as well.
they do not answer many personal questions, besides the Nile things like a favorite food, which is obviously chocolate.

do they have a goal in life?
perhaps.

fortunately they wish to be your party member, seeing as you could use a helping hand to document information on everything here, before leaving.


since the menu swaps the soul sections with the menu theme, this follow suit by utilizing the menu theme as a base line and lead motif.

oh- and some fun context, when Robyn (the protagonist) awakens, they're on a sort of miniature Beach inside of a cavern where some water appears to be pulling into, which is where they came from rather than falling inwards.  shortly beyond that is a little campsite on a patch of grass, which is where the tent and campfire that cherub resides in happens to be.
not much can be said about it at the moment, besides it looking like a cozy, sheltered place that is covered with a few different flowers that have been taken care of.
there's also an unhealthy amount of chocolate wrappers stuffed under the cots.

I totally like to imagine they have a gender androgynous anime voice lol

We're gonna be best friends!

since I don't have much dialogue, I'll just reiterate some interesting choices made for swapping the area and general things that you learn right off the bat.

so first of all, the flower bed is replaced with a little cave with a beach where some water comes in from, though it doesn't appear to have any exit.
and beyond a doorway from that, you can find what looks like a patch of grass with some reasonable gardening, and a tent and fire that were set up a while back, along with the valuables and tumble abode that is for Cherub- as they are not a simple flower and they have arms, meaning they can use things.

next, the ruins is effectively replaced with the caves and cliffs from Delta runes castle town, and later a town very much like Castle Town itself.
originally it was an area used from mining in the early days, but after most of its resources were dried up, it was turned into small tunnels with sections cut out for homes to live in.
not many people live here admittedly, but those who do are usually seeking seclusion and don't wish to be social.
well, besides the humble caretaker, but that's a different story for now.

generally as far as puzzles go, I have no idea, but I do know there would be a lot of tedious pathways due to you scaling pets that either have rocks bridges or rope bridges, both of which obviously old.
thankfully you have cherub to guide you, and they would most likely not let you fall.
not for too long at least.

some other basic things are safe Stars swap with hearts, meaning you carry within yourself an "Inner Light"- which can be very powerful when honed correctly.
also meaning that your equivalent of saving is finding a strangely random mailbox with a heart on it, in which you can open it, and often get a "Love-Letter" that might not have been addressed to you, but either way will give you something motivational.
and in further of this, you get "You are Loved/I Love You" instead of "You are filled with Determination"
other than that
- the monster friend font is stylistically replaced with the homestuck font because it looks cooler.
- the Delta Rune is replaced with something called the Omega scape, which is effectively a wheel of eyes, wings folded up, and The Almighty Starwalker- (I don't have much lower on this yet, so I will save it for later).
- Instead of a spider bake sale shop, you can enter a shop run by a one armed individual (no current name).


ideally this uses inspiration from my castle town, but also contains the Here We Are motif for later purposes- and the switch theme (thankfully not very obviously though, as I have plans to use that a little more specifically elsewhere ;D)
tho potentially that might just be the Xbox trailer theme- don't take my word for it.

I mean the narrators not very friendly to this ghost, but probably only because they're the only one that knows how to avoid the Apocalypse.

kind of an attempt at how the save points replacement would show you some of the deepest inner thoughts of the cast, reflected on the form of letters.
might change this later, so take this as subjective.

supposed to be some kind of joke about how you're basically just committing yourself to honor the memory of that strange ghost that faded from existence halfway through the fight, seeming to be in a state of depression or something.
but honestly I just thought this would be a wacky motif swap.

basically, so, this is supposed to fit in line with the ghost fight replacement, either before or after, I'm not sure yet-
but basically that long hallway you usually run down for no apparent reason gets a slightly more dangerous purpose here, and also guides you towards what most people would have expected by now.

anyway, since I want to do something more unique with the unnecessary tensions lead motif, expect the counterparts to this one track to be a little... repetitive, but in a logical way.
