Laptop's been broken for a week so I made a small-scope track with some pretty arpeggios I discovered while away. My little bro (not in the picture) came causing chaos while I was recording so I decided to make it a little tribute to him. The small scope of this track and heavy reliance on guitar samples allowed me to focus more on technical aspects, and therefore i think this track is more tight than previous ones, e.g. hats are more appropriately placed in the mix. However I don't really rate my use of flanger here as it's a bit unnecessary and adds v little. I continue my quest to find a good use for it.  The actual guitar is also pretty shitly played, didn't spend much time practicing this one and you can tell. In the meantime I'm gonna continue to do more of these quick builds as my ableton free trial has run out so I need to get better at finishing tracks. free beat, made a while ago but forgot to upload. i like the use of vocoder for those hollow stabs. slight flange on the white noise makes it a bit more interesting, but i wonder if it's too high in the mix. again, self-performed guitarpeggios lacking a bit in quality but we move. used a weird crunch sound and recorded flipping a ring for hi hats which i like a lot, but again i think a bit too loud. some bars would fit nicely but i think it's a 24 bar gap which might be difficult to accommodate. can provide extended/adjusted mix on request. first attempt at proper mastering on this track, i think it benefits but i went a bit overboard on the saturation, can particularly hear that when the beat comes in at the start. structurally kinda simple but using ableton w/out saves so at a certain point you just say fuck it. tbh i think the black enough sample is wasted on this track, it's taken from a verse ab racial identity (hence the pic) but i didn't use the whole bar so it feels a bit shallow. maybe i'll do it justice another time.

experimental piece making heavy use of reversed samples from Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass' "this guy's in love with you". Peng song and wanted to work with it in some way so here it is. Featuring vocals from Stingrai. First part tries to capture that feeling of inefficacy that's been floating around recently, second part just tryna have a bit of fun. Could have spent more time ensuring it was technically sound but i'm still on that GD ableton free trial.

lil piece of work i did in one night while camping. Nothing special but focused on the drumwork and modulated sound design, tried to keep number of tracks down which resulted in a simpler, cleaner vibe. Some good use of space. White noised some hihats which i thought would give a subtle grittiness to it. I think this would've worked but too high in the mix. Oil and water! Layering of open hat and breath sample made me happy.
