When supermajorities find that they cannot move their “own” political party to represent their interests, then it’s time to cut that party loose. “The best thing that the national majority and the Democratic super-majority can do, for the sake of everyone’s health and the future of democracy, is to leave the Democratic Party.” A national health disaster is looming. Single payer is the only solution.

U.S. rulers are experiencing a “crisis of political governance, a meltdown of the political system,” due to the “collapse of the parties of the duopoly,” said Dr. Anthony Monteiro, the Philadelphia-based Duboisian scholar. The policies and practice of both parties “became antagonistic to the minimal expectations of the masses. ”The elite didn’t see it coming,” said Monteiro. “In order to reestablish their legitimacy, they have to say that the Russians hacked the election and are threatening western ‘democracy,’ itself.” The real crisis is “their inability to govern the country.”

U.S. Becomes Ungovernable, Elites Blame it on Russians

The current anti-Russian hysteria is rooted in “turmoil in the upper ranks of the U.S. elite about Moscow and the declining position of U.S. imperialism, given the rise of China,” said Dr. Gerald Horne, professor of history and African American Studies at the University if Houston. The mania can also be viewed as “chickens coming home to roost” for the real subversions, invasions and regime policies carried out by the U.S. around the world, said Horne, who characterized the Russia-phobia as “Putin derangement syndrome.”

“I’m almost speechless at what the Democratic Party has become,” said Cynthia McKinney, the former six-term Congresswoman from Georgia, who is currently teaching political science overseas. “Whoever would have thought that the Democratic Party would be the most rabidly pro-war, pro-bank, pro-military-industrial complex?” The political spectrum has done “a 180 degree flip,” said McKinney, the Green Party’s 2008 presidential candidate. “The Left is defined as people who supported Clinton. I say that those who support the war machine are not the Left.”

Much of what passes for the “left” in this country has rendered itself useless through support of U.S. wars, said Danny Haiphong, a Boston-based social worker and weekly contributor to Black Agenda Report. What remains is a “left” that is “basically falling into the whole racist and dehumanizing rhetoric that helps to justify war against the people” of places like Syria and North Korea, he said. Both U.S. corporate parties are “risking nuclear conflagration, but there is little resistance to any of it” from those that call themselves leftists. “The Democrats,” he said, “have been driven to the right of the Republicans on a lot of questions, including the Sanders folks.” Haiphong’s recent BAR article is titled “The Left’s State of Purgatory.”
