On today’s show, we’ve got a lot to discuss from a wacky Wild Card Weekend, and what it lacked in marquee matchups, it more than made up for in drama, until Monday night’s blowout that is. We had upsets, as Trevor Lawrence went from the game’s goat to the maybe the Jags GOAT QB in the span of 4 quarters, and Danny Dimes dominated once again as the Giants exposed the Vikings. We had backup QBs going toe to toe with contenders, as Tyler Huntley and the Ravens put a scare into the Bengals, and Skylar Thompson and the Dolphins almost upset the Bills. Even the Seahawks had a halftime lead before getting rolled by the Niners. Surprisingly, the only team the didn’t even bother to show up for the Playoffs was the Bucs and Tom Brady, but with 5 solid games and only 1 dud for the weekend, this had to be one of the best Wild Card Weekends ever. But before the winners celebrate too much, they need to remember; Patrick Mahomes is still waiting in the wings. Meanwhile in the NBA, I say Giannis and the Bucks are in cruise control, but some pundits are mistaking their lack of early season urgency for weakness. Plus, some separation at the top of the standings, Steph Curry back in action dropping 41, and more! On today’s show, it’s more about the results than the method, and while a relatively lackluster Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs didn’t have us on the edge of our seats, we were rewarded with some marquee matchups for the Conference Championships. MVP candidate QBs lead three of the remaining teams, highlighted by the blockbuster matchup of Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs vs Joe Burrow and the Bengals, while Jalen Hurts and the Eagles are set to host rookie QB Brock Purdy and the Niners. Mahomes added to his legacy by returning from a serious high ankle sprain to help his team advance against the Jags, but how healthy will he be when he faces Joe Burrow and the Bengals, fresh off a dominant performance against the Bills and the subject of “legend” talk himself? Meanwhile, the Niners D has been impregnable but the moment of truth has arrived for Purdy, as he faces his toughest test against the leagues best regular season team in Philly. There’re only 2 games this Sunday, but they’re both headliners. Plus, you knew we weren’t gonna be able to go without talking some NBA; I mean, I know it’s Playoff time in the NFL but the NBA snuck some low-key great matchups in for us on Sunday, and with our Warriors still in Limbo, the Kings still rolling and trade season upon us, we’d be remiss if we didn’t at least check in with the Association.
