hey everyone, just wanted to give an update on current happenings and events...

i just released a massive compilation album on bandcamp about a week ago that i am very proud of and stand by... There are some errors with the release, namely the duplicate entries, and i have reached out to bandcamp but in short they cannot help me...

 I put in countless hours in not only trying to compile this list but also in trying to upload it all to bandcamp, which was quite the undertaking if your not a paying subscriber.

I am still a strong supporter of bandcamp, as apposed to soundcloud, because unlike soundcloud, bandcamp does not impose an uplode limit.

Anyway, regardless of the few errors that occurred during uploading, i still highly recommend at least checking out my new compilation on bandcamp: https://hunterciske.bandcamp.com/album/magnum-opus-20-years-of-musical-excellence-innovation-1999-2020

This is almost 100 hours of music condensed into about 13 hours... I solemnly swear by this release...

hey ya'll, here is a small helping from a new project I'm working on! I was listening to some of my older "cartoon" projects and thought, "wouldn't it be fun to have a modern installment of this?!" 

So yeah, I might release a few more samples down the road 'cause most these songs are probably gonna be like mini-songs, but the full album will be on my Bandcamp at the end of the year.

Hey ya'll, hope everyone is doing good... I've been pretty busy so I haven't been able to make a whole lotta music... This past weekend I had some free time so I farted around in the studio a bit : )

Next week is memorial day and I want to release a collection of older sketches and tunes that haven't been posted anywhere so, hopefully, ya'll will be seeing that... In the meantime, take it easy : )

250105 01 - bad breath

I was in band class in, I think it was 7th grade? For a very short period of time. I took the trombone and on the first day of class I swung it around like a sword and immediately got kicked out lol. That was my short stint at the trombone : D

Anyway, I made this sketch yesterday in under an hour and it sounds like it's got a lot of synthy brass sounds going on so I thought of that anecdote. Maybe get a laugh or two ; )

I know it's been like forever so I just wanted to post something today to stay relevant lol. This year has been a little more crazy than usual. The beginning started out great, musically. I was writing stuff all through March and then everything got really crazy at work and stayed that way all through the spring. I started to write here and there for the past couple of months but most of it has been some hot garbage.

Anyway, hopefully I'll be writing more stuff throughout the rest of the year and I hope everyone is staying cool.

these tunes are a result of my 3 Korg ESX-1's being out for repair a couple of weeks ago... 

The equipment I was restricted to using are as follows: Korg microKORG, Korg KP3+, Korg microSAMPLER, & my Dave Smith Evolver.

Unfortunately, one of my newer ESX-1's is almost for sure unrepairable and another one of my ESX-1's came back repaired but started malfunctioning again a week later... The repair shop is now closed due to the pandemic... I am essential stuck with just one functional ESX-1 : / Well, at least I can still make stuff.

Working under such limitations was interesting... I have had to work under these conditions before and it always turns out some neat results : )

I'm Not Gonna Lose My Mind Today

Entry #9 for our list was devised by me... The assignment was "tiki lovers/ exotica" I read this off of a box I had laying around in my room and thus the idea for our 9th entry.

At first I wanted to make a song in the "classic" sense of what a song is i suppose... I decided to cover a song that I had recently fell in love with... Unfortunately this did not satisfy me... So, that became a bonus song and will be featured on the Bandcamp release.

My next idea was to create a pallet using and stealing samples from classic exotica songs... mixed of course with some sampling mastery and programming by yours truly... What I came up with is something reminiscent of the material i was emulating back in 2006... I couldn't be more happy with the result : )

THE LIST! (vol. 2) - (9) Exotica Intoxica

So this is the first entry on our list. The assignment was "the sound of kids playing" and was enlisted by my friend Jaune. My initial idea of how to approach this was to simply gather clips of kids doing various kids activities, cut out the audio that the video came with and add my own, Carl-Stalling-style.

This was a pretty big challenge but was also very fun for me... It allowed me to compose music in a way I hadn't tried in like a decade. AND, as an extra bonus, I got to make a music video! Here's the video! ----> https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x7w9rsj

"The List" - The idea struck me one morning to call up Hunter & give each other assignments of different song ideas & see how each of us took the song ideas in different ways, using the energy of surprising the other with how we interpreted the ideas. I have always admired Hunter's music & get excited to hear his new music, as well as share my new music with him. There's usually a lot of laughter & humor. So this collection of songs is from a list of 10 ideas, 5 from each of us, that we took in totally different directions but share the common threads of the original ideas. - Jaune Honey

This is a project devised by my friend Johnny & me where we came up with a list of ten, impromptu ideas to make music from. The ideas could be anything: a piece of literature, a phrase, a song, media... literally anything.

This project was conceived on May 23rd and took me until June 11th to finish.

The ten ideas are as follows:

(1) Hunter's dream ---> square portals at the bottom of the ocean, portals to infinity, black holes, anything that goes into portals get ripped apart
(2) "I ain't 'bout to lose my mind'
(3) <3 - opening xylophone (not macabre)
(4) [sample] Halloween trick-or-treat sounds
(5) [sample] Walkure - Siegmund's love song
(6) photo of road through forest
(7) tribute to Judy Garland based on video
(8) the sound of snow
(9) cover of "Lover" by Taylor Swift
(10) Hunter's melody

There were no restrictions as to what order these needed to be done in, there was no time limit set, and there were no restrictions as to what means we could use to execute these ideas.

if anyone is interested in making a collaborative list (where it's kind-of like a various artists thing, where each artist is assigned with tackling something on the list, or, better yet, 10 artists contribute their own take on 1 idea) LET ME KNOW! That'd be dope!

PS - mad props to @tobokegao & @this-deep-well 4 making recent purchases! Ya'll are too kind and  didn't have 2 do that! I am flattered! : )

hey everyone! sorry i've been so absent lately! Been working on everything in my life BUT music!

I am excited to announce that I am now a proud and true DIY-er and land-owner! I am going to be working on becoming an off-grid homesteader for the next decade! holy smoke!

In the meantime i'm going to be working on compositions sparingly... I hope ya'll understand...
